Speegle and Savage will attend the area Iryout in Stephen- vile in January to try out for places in the All-Stste Band. Gary Deason, cornet, and Lar ry Smith, French horn, were members of the Red band, am Terry Hutchison, snare drum was in the Blue Band. In addition to the 13 from Denton, approximately 400 other students from 42 schools tried out for places in the 107 piece All- Region Band. Clarence Sawhill, director of bands at UCLA, was conductor of the All-Region Band. Other clinicians were Bernard Smith, Baylor University; Gene Witherspoon, Arkansas Tech; and Ray Luke, East Texas State College.
