He was the devoted husband of Alice Godard Allen, recently celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past September 22nd. Born in Stafford Springs, a son of the late Herbert Walden Allen and Evalene Louiza Smith Allen, he attended the Hazardville Grammar School and graduated from Enfield High School. He received his B.A. from American International College in Springfield.

He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War. Edward was associated with the family business, the former E.C. Sons, Inc. in Hazardville for over 50 years, retiring as Vice- President and Manager of Retail Sales in 1993. A faithful member of the Hazardville United Methodist Church, Edward actively served the church as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Finance Board and the Staff Parish Committee.

He also served as an Usher, a Sunday School Teacher, a Senior Choir member and as Lay Member to the Annual Conference. Edward was a knowledgeable historian, offering several presentations on the history of Hazardville and as a member of the Hazardville Institute Conservancy was still actively raising funds for the restoration of the Hazardville Institute. His passion for history was exhibited in his membership in the Enfield Historical Society, the Goddard Historical Genealogical Society, and the Connecticut Historical Society. He was also a member of the Antiquarian Landmark Society and the Enfield Society for the Detection of Thieves and Robbers. Photography was another of favorite pastimes.

He was a member and past President of the Springfield Photographic Society and past VP of the New England Camera Club Council, achieving the honors of One Star Exhibitor and MNEC. Following in his footsteps, Edward served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Enfield Federal Savings and Loan and was also Chairman of the Board of New England Bankshares. Upon retirement from both Boards he was appointed as Director Emeritus. involvement in the community also extended to the Hazardville Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as Deputy Chief and his enthusiasm for music was revealed in his membership in the Enfield Community Chorus.

In addition to his beloved wife, Alice, he is survived by his three children, Edward C. Allen, III and his wife, Gail of Mansfield, MA and their children, Taylor, Michael, and Brooke; Laura Allen Fiore and her husband, Sal of Stafford Springs; and Beth Allen Moore, M.D. and her husband, Ross of Old Greenwich, and their children, Allie and Eva; his brother and sister-in-law, John W. and Marilyn Allen, Sr. of Vero Beach, FL; a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Ernest Avery, Sr.

of Hazardville, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 2, at 11 a.m. in the Hazardville United Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Ave. Private burial will take place in the Hazardville Cemetery. family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, from 2 5 p.m.

(Colella) Edith C. (Colella) Burns, 90, beloved wife of the late James J. Burns, died Thursday (March 29, 2007). She was born in Plainville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Assunta (Oliveri) Colella, and resided in Hartford for nearly 70 years. Before her retirement she had been employed by the State of CT at the Rocky Hill Veterans Home and Hospital and was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, in Hartford.

She was a member of the Ladies of LaSalette, the Parkville Senior Center, and the Guys and Dolls Group of the Southwest Senior Center. Edith is survived by her brothers: Daniel Colella of New Britain, John and Rocky Colella, both of Colorado; her sisters Emily Manafort of New Britain, and Ann Weaver of Cary, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Peter, Fred, and Albert Colella, and her sister, Lydia Hinely. Her funeral service will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Fisette- Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.

at St. Church, New Britain. Interment will be in St. Cemetery, Plainville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, from 8-9 a.m.

BRENTNELL, Paul Charles Paul Charles Brentnell, 69, of Farmington Bristol, died on Thursday, (March 29, 2007) at Bristol Hospital. Born in Bennington, VT, he was the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Schott) Brentnell of NJ and lived in Bristol for almost 15 years. He enjoyed his motorcycle and was involved in many charity events.

He wished to express his thanks to Mary Mahan for her lifetime friendship and care. Paul is survived by three sons, Jim Brentnell and his wife Mary Beth of Greensboro, NC, Russell Brentnell and his wife Myra of Asheboro, NC, and Glenn Brentnell and his wife Melanie of Yukon, OK; two daughters, Barbara McDonald of Cromwell and Katie Brentnell and her husband John Johnson of Stafford Springs; two brothers, George Brentnell of NJ and Charlie Brentnell and his wife Anita of NJ; one sister, Faye Brentnell of NJ; one brother- in-law, Lewis Stroehlein of NJ; niece Rose Stroehlein of NJ; nephew Dennis Stroehlein of VT; daughter-in-law, Rachel Waugh and her husband Tommy of NC; and six grandchildren, Jonathan, Laura and Lauren Brentnell, Sarah Waugh, Miranda and Maggie McDonald. He was predeceased by one sister, Florence Stroehlein. A memorial service will be held at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Cromwell on Monday, April 2nd at 12 Noon. BORON, John John Boron, 93, of Rockville, died Thursday, (March 29, 2007) at Rockville General Hospital. He was born in Rockvillle, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Surdell) Boron. Before his retirement, he was employed by Hamilton Standard. John was an avid fisherman enjoying both freshwater and saltwater fishing. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Anna Hanauer of Scotland, Jean and Everett Beardsley of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley Boron and his sisters, Sophie Kravontka and Bernice Grous. Funeral services will be Monday, at 10 a.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Rockville. Burial, with full Military Honors will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, 2-4 p.m. DEATH NOTICES GRIFFIN, Jeanne (Stuart) Jeanne (Stuart) Griffin, 58, a most special mother, sister, grandmother, friend and loving wife of Peter J. Griffin, died peacefully at home on (March 29, 2007), surrounded by her family. Born September 9, 1948 to the late Edgar and Catherine (Gresh) Stuart, she was a 1966 graduate of Farmington High School. Upon graduation she went to work for The Ryan Pharmacy, where she met her husband of 36 years.

Together they worked, and in 1986 eventually purchased the business, and have continued to run the small town drug store ever since. She was a lifelong communicant of the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville. In her youth, Jeanne was an accomplished water skier and quarter- midget race car driver. She was known by many for her fun loving, caring and benevolent nature.

She enjoyed her yearly trips to Maui, loved winters at Chimney Hill, Vermont, and most importantly enjoyed entertaining for family and friends. Jeanne leaves behind her three loving and devoted sons and two daughter in-laws, Patrick S. and Mary Beth Griffin of Unionville, Christian J. (C.J.) and Beth Griffin of Collinsville, and Timothy J. Griffin of Unionville; her beloved sister Marilyn Haklin, her husband Joe and daughter Kathryn of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jeanne also leaves behind her three grandchildren, who where the sparkle in her eye; Michael Foley, Kathleen Scully and Fiona Sky. Also left behind are her mother- in-law Mary Alice Griffin, sister- in-law Margery E. Griffin, her husband Gary and son Matthew; brother-in-law Howard W. COOKE, Evelyn A. Evelyn A. Cooke, 86, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday (March 29, 2007) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. She was born in Torrington on September 10, 1920 to the late William J. and Rose (Marck) Cooke.

Evelyn was a graduate of CCSU teachers college in 1942 and went on to receive her Masters Degree from Trinity College. She taught in Guilford for three years before coming to Plainville where she taught for 36 years at Plainville High School, retiring in 1981. She was member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and was on the Board of Catholic Family Services. Evelyn was also a volunteer at the probation office in New Britain Superior Court. She leaves her brother, Raymond R.

Cooke of Rayhan, MA; and a sister, Doris Clark and her husband Donald of Plainville; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, at 9a.m. from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Plainville, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Harold was born in Wallagrass, ME on April 17, 1941 and was a son of the late Paul and Yvonne (Morin) Caron. A Bristol resident since 1963, he worked for Pratt Whitney in Southington and Middletown for just over 33 years before retiring in 1999. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Ann Church, Bristol, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the League of Sacred Heart Society.

Harold is survived by a two brothers and a sister in law, Henry and Beverly Caron of Bristol and Paul Caron Jr. of Brooklyn NY; three sisters and brothers in law, Yvette and Leonard Michaud of Plymouth, Bernadette and Lewellyn Morneault of Fort Kent, ME; and Rita and Bruce Taker of Inverness, FL; a sister in law, Jacqueline Caron of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Kuciska) Petersen, she lived in Hartford, Vernon and Tolland before returning to Vernon in 1984.

Prior to her retirement in 1999, Mary Ann was a clerk at Rockville General Hospital for 33 years. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She is survived by her beloved children, Stephen DiUlio and his wife, Bette of Swarthmore, PA, Joseph DiUlio and his wife, Phyllis of Ellington, and Deborah Goulet and her husband, Richard of Vernon; three grandchildren, Deanna DiUlio of Carlsbad, CA, and Rebecca and Kevan DiUlio; a great grandson, Nathan Amerson of Carlsbad, CA; two sisters, Elizabeth Brow of Vernon, and Patricia Morel of Amston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. CARTA, Lucille (Ribera) Lucille (Ribera) Carta, 84, of Foot Hills Durham, formerly of Chamberlain Hill Higganum, wife of the late Sebastian Carta, died Friday, (March 30, 2007) at High View Health Center in Middletown. She was born in Portland, the daughter of the late Sebastian and Vincenza (Sbona) Ribera. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with the State of Connecticut in the Purchasing Department. She was a volunteer at Middlesex Hospital and the Haddam Senior Center. Lucille was an avid cook, she loved knitting and gardening, was a champion crossword puzzle solver, and also enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by two daughters, Anita Kelly and her husband Paul of Higganum, and Lucille Carpentino and her husband Frederick of Durham; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Ribera Hennessey of Higganum; and two brothers, James Ribera of Middletown, and Emanuel Ribera of FL. She was predeceased by five brothers, Salvatore, Frank, John, Angelo, and Paul Ribera; and three sisters, Josephine Ribera Vicchitto, Anna Ribera Ripa, and Nellie Ribera Turner. CALMUS, Glenn Glenn Calmus of Framingham, MA died at home on Thursday morning (March 29, 2007). Born in Boston he grew up in Newton. After graduating from Newton South High School, Mr. Calmus attended Rochester Institute of Technology, UMASS, Amherst and the Mass College of Art.

For the past 17 years he worked at TJX Companies in Framingham as a transportation analyst. He is survived by his wife, Dorene (DiLeo); his mother, Eleanor (Kaufman) Calmus of West Hartford, formerly of Newton, MA; a sister, Laurie Kritzer and her husband, Lester of West Hartford; and his brother, Jeff Calmus and his wife, Pattie Comfort of Marblehead, MA. He was the son of the late Eddie Calmus. He leaves his nieces and nephews, Amy and Andrew Kritzer, Zachary Calmus and Nora Comfort Tirrell. MARONE, Elizabeth (Malecky) Elizabeth (Malecky) Marone, widow of Stephen Marone, died Friday (March 30, 2007). She was born January 16, 1924, in Glastonbury, daughter of the late Stanley and Balbina Marone. Elizabeth worked at Aetna Life Casualty for many years before retiring to Florida. Elizabeth and Steve enjoyed Florida but missed their family and friends more, so they moved back to Glastonbury.

She loved her family and friends; enjoyed playing Bingo, and the New York Yankees. She will be dearly missed but her struggle with is over and she is at peace. Elizabeth is survived by her children: Ron and his wife Sharon Tomany-Marone, Stephen and his wife Judy, Sharon and her companion Ed Bagot; her grandchildren: Jennifer Marone, Nathan, Dawn and Shelley Marone, Ron and Stephanie Frechette; and seven great grandchildren; her sisters: Irene LeRoy, Shirley Masterson and Joan Orzech; and her brother John; her sisters-inlaw: Mary Malecky and Lois Malecky; her brother-in-law, Ed Masterson. DZURENDA, Frank E. Frank E. Dzurenda, 86, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away on Monday, (March 26, 2007) at his home while under the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice. He was born in Yonkers, NY and lived in Windsor for 47 years until he moved to Spring Hill in 2004. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St.

Mary Church, Masaryktown, FL. Frank worked for TWA Airlines in New York for 17 years and in the Engineering Department of Pratt Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for over 30 years. He served the town of Windsor for 32 years as a member and chairman of the Town Planning and Zoning Commission. He also served as chairman and vice- chairman of the Capitol Region Council of Governments, on the Intergovernmental Review Subcommittee and on the Transportation Committee of the Regional Planning Commission. In 2004, Frank moved to Spring Hill, FL where he enjoyed participating in the Wellington Democratic Club and spending time with family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie of the Wellington in Spring Hill; daughters, Karen Rocco and her husband Thomas of Canton, MA and Kathleen Segal and her husband Allan of Enfield; sons, Kenneth Dzurenda and his wife Jane of Vernon, and John Dzurenda of East Hanover, NJ; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Dzurenda of Trumbull and Agnes Hvisc of Yorktown NY. He also leaves his nine grandchildren and a great grandchild. DUBIEL, John A. John A. Dubiel, 86, of East Hartford husband of Helen T.

(Pliska) Dubiel, died peacefully and oined the Lord Thursday (March 29, 2007) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hartford and has lived in the Hartford area most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Fenn Mfg. Co.

and was owner of the former Merz Mfg. Co. He was an avid fisherman and a knowledgeable Tool maker and craftsman. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Barbara Dubiel and her husband William Dinwiddie, Jr. of North Carolina; two brothers, Carl Dubiel and his wife Marge of Avon and Donald Dubiel and his wife Janet of South Windsor; a sister, Elizabeth Levay of Simsbury; three grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan and Alexandra Dinwiddie and many nieces and nephews.

Richard J. Norris 69, of Enfield, beloved husband to Olga A. (Bobersky) Norris, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, (March 29, 2007) in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 10, 1937 in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Florence (Scallon) Norris. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army.

A loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother and grandfather, Richard is survived by his sons, Richard J. Norris Jr. and his wife Susan of Enfield and Jeffery W. Norris and his wife Brenda of Enfield; his daughter, Joann R. (Reynolds) DeAngelis of Wethersfield, wife of Julius DeAngelis, died Thursday, (March 29, 2007) at a local convalescent home. She was born in New Bedford, MA.

She worked 40 years as an underwriter coordinator for the Aetna Life Insurance Co. She was the daughter of Merle and Elsie Reca Reynolds. She was a member of the Church of Incarnation, Womens Club, Aetna Womens Club, Cape Cod Genealogy Society, and the Reynolds Family Assoc. She is survived by a niece, Marie Leech and husband Mark of Rock Fall; a nephew, Merle Reynolds and wife Virginia of Middletown; three great nephews, Ian and Desmond Leech, and Kevin Reynolds; a great great nephew, Logan Reynolds; a sister-in-law, Carmelina Reynolds. She was predeceased by a brother, Merle Reynolds Jr.

She was very close to her brothers children. Funeral services will be Monday, April 2, 9:30 a.m. from the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Rocky Hill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at the Church of Incarnation. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, a.m.

JAMROGOWICZ, Lillian (Starr) Lillian (Starr) Jamrogowicz, 90, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Frank W. Jamrogowicz, died peacefully on Thursday, (March 29, 2007). Born in the Hazardville section of Enfield on June 25, 1916, Lillian was the daughter of the late Herman and Eva (Desrocher) Starr. A lifelong resident of Enfield, Lillian was a communicant of St.

Bernard Church. She graduated from Enfield High School in 1933. Lillian and her late husband co-owned Oil Service for many years. Lillian retired from Johnson Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator in 1989. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over fifty years.

A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, Lillian is survived by her daughters, Beverly Peltier and Mary Jane Jamrogowicz both of Enfield; her sister, Rita Conlin of Hartford; two grandchildren, Nicole and Christopher Peltier; and two great-grandchildren, Adam Peltier and Shila Tozier; and many nephews and nieces. Lillian was predeceased by her two brothers, Clement and Norman Starr; and her sister, Claire Sharon. Family and friends will gather on Monday, April 2, at the Somers Funeral Home by 9a.m. for a procession to St. Bernard Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m.

Burial will be held in St. Bernard Cemetery. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday April 1, from at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street.
