AND WATCH THAT SCALP Her Eyes On Opera Sometimes Sings By DON MCDOWELL Heeoril-Clironicle Special Writer Tlie coed has strange musical tastes. She loves opera, occasionally sings hillbilly, threatens to draw her scalping knife at the mention of jazz and is studying the clarinet. She is a member of a music- dan's union, yet she does not play profesionally. Her eye is on the grand opera stage, but she isn't studying voice. But she holds still another distinction among music majors at NTSC.

It's a good bet that Rose Thilda Harris, transfer student from Miami has a monopoly on "The Lord's Prayer" in Cherokee. She brought a hereditary love of music and a strain of Cherokee blood to NTSC from Northeastern Oklahoma AM this fall, along with a collection of ballads and hymns in the Indian tongue. KODEO SINGEK Although she doesn't speak the language, Miss Harris has been singing in Cherokee about a year. She performed "The Lord's Prayer" at a rodeo during the Eighth Annual Cherokee Holiday in September at Tahlequah, Okla. -after riding in the opening parade.

She feels at home atop a horse. Her father, who was killed in War II, was a rodeo trick rider "who played just a everything by ear." Miss Harris has sung at several Cherokee meetings during last year. She won't disclose the nature of the meetings, other than mentioning that an old land grant from the Great White Father in Washington was discussed. She talks freely on any subject save tribal doings. And even concerning these, she likes to suggest RJKHUMt-lHUKlH-GIHS IIM r-ft SELBY FLOWER SHOP DU2-4191 Corner Congress N.
