Wipf, 92 Huron, SD See OBITUARIES, Page 3B Alfred "Al" Krueger Sioux Falls Alfred "Al" Krueger, 85, of Sioux Falls, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. Alfred Albert Krueger was born October 5, 1922 at Havre, MT.

As a child, he moved with his family to the Freeman, SD area where grew up and received his education. Throughout his life, Al lived in Freeman, SD, Yankton, SD, Parker, SD, Canton, SD. For the past 36 years, he lived in Sioux Falls, SD. He was united in marriage with Martha Schoon on October 5, 1943 at Mitchell, SD. Alfred worked as a District Park Manager for the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks for 15 years.

His wife predeceased him on April 14, 1979. Al later became employed with Zabel Steel, where he worked for 17 years, retiring as the steelyard foreman in 1987. Al married Evangeline C. Larson on April 5, 1980 in Sioux Falls. Al and Evangeline continued to live in Sioux Falls until the time of his death.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Evangeline, of Sioux Falls, SD; his son, Dennis Lee (Celia) Krueger, of Sioux Falls, SD; a step-son, Ronald Lee Larson, of Pierre, SD; a step-daughter, Phyllis Jean Grassi, of Spokane, WA; a sonin-law, John Rath, of Surprise, AZ; five grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one sister, Agnes Hofer, of Lewiston, ID. In addition to his first wife, Al was predeceased by his parents; one daughter, Judy Kay Rath, in September of 2006; a brother, Christian Krueger; and his sisters, Johanna Jackson, Margaret Schoon, Laura Gross and Wanda Krause. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Mitchell, SD.

Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. that evening. The family prefers that memorials be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church TV Ministry Fund.

28, 2008 Donald Eugene Parker Sioux Falls Donald Eugene Parker, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. The son of Elijah and Mary (Halasey), Donald was born on October 23, 1919 in Hazel, SD. He attended and graduated from Hazel High School in 1937. In 1938, he joined C.C.C. at Chamberlain, SD and in 1940 he enrolled again for six months at C.C.C.

camps in Roubay, SD. In January of 1941, he went to Santa Monica, CA where he worked for Douglas Aircraft until August 1942. At that time, he returned to South Dakota and entered U.S. Navy where he spent three years plus (twenty months in the Pacific Theater) as an Aviation Metal Smith. After discharge in October 1945, he returned to Bryant, SD and worked as a carpenter.

In early 1947, he came to Sioux Falls and worked as a Union Carpenter retiring in 1984. He was united in marriage to Rosella Brown on April 28, 1949 at St. Charles Church in Big Stone City, SD. Throughout his life, Don enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors with household repairs. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and playing cards.

Don taught many of his grandchildren to play pinochle and cribbage. He will be held in fond memory by all his friends and family. Don was a member of Christ the King Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 40 et 8 Club, Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Carpenters Union. Don is survived by his loving wife, Rosella; daughters, Patricia (Harvey) Matthies, Karen Parker, Nancy (Richard) Hall and Linda (Timothy) Whitney; grandchildren, Randy, Greg and Todd Matthies, Nathan (Amanda), Kathleen and David Hall and Mathew and Elijah Whitney; great -grandchildren, Josh, Jake and Brandon Matthies, Kim (Dustin) Comp, Lexy Matthies and Kassidy Whitney; great -great granddaughter, Nevaeh Hagedorn; brothers, Robert (Lorraine) and lack (Betty); sisters, Betty (Mervin) Lowe, Jean Anne (Richard) Sopkowski and Mary Joan McBride; and brother-in-law, Earl Munkelwitz. Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Rose at 16 years of age on February 15, 1966; granddaughter, Jessica Parker Whitney on March 25, 1977 and great -grandsons, Aden and Beau Comp on March 25, 2006; sisters, Alice and Frances; and brother, Gerald.

Penney, 87, of Sioux Falls, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital. Vance Penney was born on June 5, 1920, the only child of George and Grace Penney. A life-long resident of Sioux Falls, he completed his education here, graduating from Washington High School. Following high school, he attended USD and SDSU before being drafted into the us Army. He served as a medical supply sergeant in New Caledonia until his discharge in December of 1945.

On December 5, 1947, he was united in marriage with Ardys Arnold. She preceded him in death on August 27, 1991. In 1950, he was recalled for service in the Korean War, where he again was in medical supply. He was discharged in 1951. After returning from military service, he joined the uS Postal Service where he worked for 28 years.

He was a supervisor of carriers at the time of his retirement. Vance loved flying, having obtained a commercial license in the early 1950's. Later, he built and flew model planes. He was a driver for Project Car for 13 years. When the Washington Pavilion opened, he became a very active volunteer in the Science Center and as an usher.

In 2004, he was recognized by Downtown Sertoma as Volunteer of the Year. Vance was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church, a life member of both the American Legion and VFW, and belonged to many of the model plane clubs and the Optimists. Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Wayne (Linda) Penney, of Lake Zurich, IL; his daughter, Linda (Rick) Thramer, of New Prague, MN; six grandchildren, David (Jennifer), Eric (Misty), Kristin, Andrew, Lindsay and Kelly; and a greatgrandchild, Savannah. He is also survived by his special friend of over 70 years, Barbara White. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m.

at Hope Lutheran Church. Internment will precede the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m.

Bonnie Lee Roberts Sioux Falls Bonnie Lee Roberts, 72, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2008, at Sanford Hospital with family by her side. Bonnie Lee was born January 1936, in Chancellor, SD, to parents Conrad B. and Berdena Meier.

Bonnie loved spending time with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren. Anyone that ever met her never forgot her. Bonnie taught everyone how to embrace moments of grace, had a captivating smile, and the most beautiful hands. Bonnie was loved by so many, and will be missed so very much. Ronald Eugene Schaffer was born on September 8, 1937, to William and Beatrice (Brady) Schaffer at Carrington, ND. He attended school in the Carrington, ND area. He helped his father farm before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served from January 31, 1955 until his honorable discharge on November 17, 1958. On September 8, 1959, Ron married Marlene Smith.

They lived in Carrington, ND before moving to South Dakota in 1964. He was a house mover for a number of years and then an auto body mechanic and later a water well driller at Osberg's Well Drilling. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Huron; two sons, Rodney (Jill) Schaffer of Vermillion and Robert Schaffer of Minneapolis, MN; four daughters, Angela Schaffer of Larsen, WI, Marilyn (Bob) Olliver of Spring Hill, FL, Marilee (Ron) Rounds of Cavour and Catherine Blumenauer of Brandon; 15 grandchildren, Jesse, Ryan, Danielle, Tyler, Michaun, Cory, Nickolas, Stuart, Cassandra, William, Katilyn, Dylan, Teddrick and Callissa; one sister, Mary Kay (Ed) Holzwarth of Jamestown, ND; one brother-in-law, Marvin Hallwachs of Carrington, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald W.

"Chip" Schaffer on September 19, 1990, his daughter, Sandra Lee Schaffer on February 1981, his son-in-law, Daniel Currier on June 22, 1985, his parents, two brothers, Marvin and Kenneth, and two sisters, Marlene and Audrey. Tyrone Schoenwald Hudson Tyrone Schoenwald, 50, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at home from a massive heart attack. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. He was employed by National Builders, Inc. building and repairing grain elevators at the time of his death. Peterson Alcester Dolores "Dee" B. Peterson, age 81, formerly of Alcester, SD, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Dolores, daughter of Arthur and Bertha Peterson, was born Sunday morning, February 28, 1926 on their family farm south of Alcester. She attended Big Springs Baptist Church and Big Springs School District during her grade school years. A few years after her father's death in 1936, Dolores, along with her mother and sister, moved to Alcester, SD in 1942. After graduating from Alcester High School in 1943, she attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City, IA. In September of that same year she was hired by the Lincoln-Union Electric Company as an office assistant.

She experienced first hand the growth of this rural electric cooperative for nearly 45 years before retiring in March of 1988. As a bookkeeper, she went from all hand pencil work to calculators, and ended in the computer age. She was a member of Alcester Baptist Church where she was involved in women's groups, served as Mission Treasurer, and sang in the choir. After moving to Sioux Falls in 2001, she attended Faith Baptist Fellowship Church. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Evelyn Eneboe (Everett), and is survived by her nephew, Eric Eneboe of Canton, SD, and her niece, Tacey Braithwaite (Tom) of Sioux Falls.

A graveside service will be held at Big Springs Cemetery south of Alcester at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the Alcester Baptist Church.
