Parents of the couple are Brett and Jane Bradfield of Sioux Falls and Rick and Kendra Childress of Larchwood, Iowa. But at dinner the conversation flowed easily as Bradfield and Childress shared stories about their families.

By the end of the night, they had made a connection. "I knew right away that this was going to be serious," Bradfield said. "When he proposed to me, he actually called my dad and said he wanted to talk," Bradfield said. "Well, he was so nervous while calling that my parents thought something was wrong. They said, 'Josh, what's He said, 'Nothing, I just want to come Well, my mom tried calling me to ask what's wrong with Josh what's going on? Luckily, I wasn't near my phone or I would have known something was up.

The cat would have been out of the bag." After Childress left Brad-field's parents' home, he came to her apartment with a dozen roses and a proposal. "It was a complete surprise. We hadn't talked about it or anything," said Bradfield. "He had just started his new job, and so I thought it was about that. But he said, 'I love you' and got down on his knee right away, and he pulled the ring right out of his pocket." That night they went back to Applebee's, sat at the same table and relived that first date.

But this time they talked of their own future family. "We always talk about having a family some day and Josh Childress and Brittany Bradfield were married Dec. 22, 2006, at St. Mary Church in Sioux Falls. A couple of weeks later, Bradfield ran into Childress.

"I was really nervous because I thought, "What are we going to talk said Bradfield. number, and it was Josh's! When he answered and said, This is I just about died." Even though it gave Bradfield a chance to talk to Childress, she was embarrassed by the awkward introduction. "I called Blake back and said, 'I'm going to kill laughed Bradfield.

Bradfield was a spring 2003 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls.

Before graduating, she had noticed Josh Childress of Larchwood, Iowa. He was a senior at USF that fall, and she thought he looked like a nice guy. "I just had seen him around campus and could tell he was very smart and a genuinely sincere guy willing to help people," said Bradfield. "My brother Blake knew him from school. Josh played football, and Blake was friends with some of the football players." Knowing his sister's feelings, Blake Bradfield, a junior at USF, urged Childress on that September, saying, "Boy, my sister Brittney really likes you.

You should call her." But Childress was too shy to make a move, so Brad-field's brother knew he needed to get creative. "One night my brother called me and said, 'My phone is going to die, and I have to tell you something really said Bradfield. "I told him to just tell me. But he said, 'I can't.
