Survivors include her husband, Dennis, of Ulm; a daughter, Christina Campbell of Ulm; a son, Jeffrey Campbell of Anaconda; her parents, Henry and Ann Best of Lewistown; brothers Russell Best of Spokane and Randall Best of Lewistown; and one grandchild. Additional survivors include a daughter-in-law, Christine Campbell; a sister-in-law, Kathy Best; a niece, Lisa Best; and a nephew, Michael Best. Her granddaughter is Willow Rose Campbell. She was born March 27, 1946, in Bozeman, and raised in Denton. She graduated from Denton High School in 1964.

She married Dennis Campbell in Salmon, Idaho, in 1967. She was a member of the Ulm Home Extension Club for many years and enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, fishing, hiking and traveling. Memorials are suggested to the Gynecological Cancer Foundation. Charland M. 'Charlie' Akers Linda Akers of Casper, stepsons Charles Tryon of Longmont, Rick Tryon of Great Falls and James Tryon of Twenty- Charland Milton "Charlie" Akers, 74, of 317 Heather Lane, a retired Exxon supervisor and Navy veteran, died of cancer Tuesday at his home.

His funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with private. inurnment in Highland Cemetery. O'Connor's Funeral Home is Akers handling cremation and arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Connie, of Great Falls; daughters Marie Ann Kline of Douglas, and nine Palms, brothers Donald Akers of Grand Junction, Nolin Akers of Loveland, and Bob Akers of Longmont; five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charlie was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Longmont, and attended school in Meade and Longmont. He served a motor machinist's mate third class in the Navy during World War II, and received the American Area Campaign Ribbon and Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Ribbon with two stars and two Victory ribbons. He married Annette McConnell in 1947; they divorced in 1974. He married Connie Tryon on Sept.

14, 1993, in Great Falls. He enjoyed woodworking and antique cars and loved the outdoors and animals. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice of Montana. Gladys A. Holum SCOBEY Gladys A.

(Billehus) Holum, 69, a longtime resident of the Daniels Memorial Nursing Home, died there Tuesday after a long illness. Rae Joseph Johnston, 71, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, died of natural causes Saturday while heli-hiking with his wife in British Columbia. His funeral is 11 at the Jechurenday sus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Bancroft in Missoula. Cremation Johnston Society of the Rockies in Missoula is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Missoula; children Rod Peterson of Alberton, Brooke Hansen of Bigfork, Holly Mendenhal of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kirk Johnston of Missoula; sisters Shirley Zimmerman, Marilyn Moody and Sheila Little, all of Michigan; and two grandchildren. His father, mother and stepson, Greg Peterson, preceded him in death.

He was born July 12, 1930, in River Rouge, to Joseph Joy Johnston and Margaret Rae Johnston. Rae graduated from River Rouge Rae graduated from River Rouge High School, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan Medical School. He was an intern in Spokane and completed his residency in Sacramento, before deciding to specialize orthopedics. He completed his postgraduate training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Utah and Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City. He met his wife, Joan, in Salt Lake City and they moved to Missoula in 1965.

He practiced orthopedic surgery in Missoula from 1965 to 1973, and pediatric orthopedic surgery from 1974 until 2000. He was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic. Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopedic Society, the North Pacific Orthopedic Society, Montana Orthopedic Society, Western Orthopedic Society and the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy. He was an amateur boxing champion and member of the Michigan State NCAA Championship Boxing Team. At 16, he was also two-time Golden Glove Champion of Detroit.

He was a noted high school and college athlete and scholar, and served in the United States Air Force in Japan as the flight surgeon for the Pacific AirSea Rescue Service. Rae loved medicine and knew from the time he was in the eighth grade that he wanted to be a physician. He was fascinated by the West, and after working his way through school, headed out to explore and fell in love with Montana. He felt extremely lucky to have such a wonderful medical practice in Missoula. He loved his patients and never tired of helping them.

Rae had a true passion for Montana and all that it offered. He loved to explore and was always interested in finding new places to hunt, fish and hike with his dog, Remi. Some of his most memorable moments were spent flyfishing the rivers of Western Montana, especially Rock Creek and the Clark Fork. He loved the Rattlesnake and spent much of his time hiking or snowshoeing the various trails. The Bob Marshall Wilderness was also one of Rae's favorite places.

For 35 years, he and his wife horsepacked with their children into the Bob. He was a true family man; devoted to his is wife and children. He loved his new grandson and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of two more grandchildren. He was the rock of the family and will be missed and loved every day. Johnson BOW, Wash. Richard K. "Rick" Johnson, 63, a former Great Falls resident who owned several local businesses, including the Cimmaron Club in Black Eagle and J-T Ranch House in Great Falls, died of a heart attack Friday i in Bow, Wash. Cremation has taken place and a private wake will be held Saturday in Bow. Survivors include his wife, Mollie Johnson of Bow; children Lori Johnson-Grimm of Victoria, B.C., Casey Piton of Minot, N.D., Mark Johnson of Anacortes, and Rich Johnson of Walla Walla, his mother, Agnes Johnson of Seattle; a brother, Ronald Johnson of Bow; and a sister, Lori Johnson Tacoma.

He married Helen Harrington from Valier on Nov. 8, 1940. Ross was a veteran of World War II and served in Patton's 7th Army. After the war, he attended Great Falls Business College and drove truck to Alaska for many years. He was a member of the Sheriff's Posse and Montana Cowboys Association.

Ross was an accomplished horseman and I loved the rodeo way of life, passing those interests on to his seven children. Robert E. Matoon Sr. CANYON CREEK Robert Edmund Matoon 71, died Sunday at a Helena hospital. A memorial service is 11 a.m.

Saturday at the Faith Center in Great Falls. Survivors include children Sandra Barlow of Del Ray, CarMatoon Sr. ol Howe of Jacksonville, Bar- Sr. bara Williams of Line Oak, Judy Woofter of Boise, Robert Matoon Jr. of Great Falls, Steve Matoon of Alaska, David Matoon of Bozeman and Victoria Castona of Helena; a sister, Lillian Knutson of Great Falls; 28 grandchildren and 14 great -grandchildren.

A son, Richard Allen, has died. Bob was born July 25, 1930, in Great Falls, to Victor and Mina (Carnegie) Matoon. He married Patricia Evelyn Glennon on April 27, 1953, and worked for Walsh Anderson Lumber until his stroke in 1978. He then moved to Canyon Creek where he lived until his death. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Irene Cora Combs GLASGOW Irene Cora (Breikjern) Combs, 89, who worked at the Valley County Courthouse, Gambles and Gordon's Foods in Glasgow, died of natural causes Monday at a Glasgow nursing home. Her funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Rosscup of Richmond, sons Robert G.

Combs of Glasgow and Dennis Combs of San Diego; and a sister, Evelyn Turnland of Glasgow. She was preceded in death by an infant son; her husband, Clinton, in 1962; and another son, James, in 1968. Olwen Margaret Anderson Olwen Margaret (Jones) Anderson, 84, of 400 5th St. a retired food service manager, died of natural causes Tuesday at her home. Her funeral is 2 ay p.m.

Survivors include sons Robert Anderson of San Francisco, James V. Anderson of Oakland, and William B. Anderson of Great Falls; a brother, Frank Jones of Helena; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, in 1973; and a daughter, Carol Rae Anderson, in 1964. She was born March 29, 1917, in Great Falls, and was raised in the Woodland Estates area, where her father homesteaded and ranched in the 1890s.

She graduated from Great Falls High School in 1935 and married Bert Anderson on June 26, 1936, in Havre. She was employed by School District No. 1 for 25 years, and was food service manager at Great Falls High for 18 years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Rainbow Garden Club, Life Members Garden Club, Royal Neighbors of America and the Russell Museum. She was a volunteer at the former Montana Deaconess Hospital and Benefis Healthcare East Campus, with more than 7,000 hours of service.

Her hobbies included gardening and reading, and she enjoyed Montana Great Falls history. Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice of Montana. Katherine Alice Butler HAVRE Katherine Alice (MacArthur) Butler, 79, a homemaker, died of natural causes Sunday in Havre. Her funeral is 11 a.m. today at Presbyterian Church in Chinook, with burial in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Edwards Funeral Home is in Butler charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Paul Butler of Chinook; daughters Shelly Butler and Deborah Collette of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kelly Bloxham of Twin Falls, Idaho, Peggy Albrighte of Spokane and Linda Depner and Cheri Butler of Seattle; sons William Butler and Thomas Butler of Seattle, James Butler of Vancouver, Canada, John Butler of San Francisco, Richard Butler of Boise and Donald Butler of Bellingham, sisters Anne Danis, Pat Holman, Jean Erickson and Mocky Donis, all of Chinook; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She married Paul Butler on June 11, 1941, in Chinook. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Presbyterian Women's Group and an active member of the Presbyterian Church. She was also a volunteer at the Blaine County Museum and Chinook Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, knitting and walking with her sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Church of Chinook.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Smith of Roosevelt, Utah; sons John "Jack" Cronk of Harlem and Richard Cronk of Chinook; a sister, Norma Dickson of Chinook; eight grandchildren and five -grandchildren. His wife, Leona, died in 1996. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Cronk; and a sister, Ruth Ekegren. He was born June 4, 1908, in Great Falls, and raised on the Cronk Ranch in Coburg. He graduated from Chinook High School in 1927 and attended business college in Spokane.

His father died in 1936, and he and his brother Roger operated as Cronk Brothers until incorporating as Cronk Ranch Inc. in 1964. He married Leona Dolven on June 29, 1932, in Harlem. John never had any desire to live anywhere else or follow any business other than ranching, in spite of its ups and downs. He was a 4-H leader for 20 years, served on the school board for 25 years and was president of North Central Stockgrowers in 1968-69.

Local sex offender changes addresses By Tribune Staff A medium-risk sex offender convicted of having sex with a Great Falls girl too young to give consent has moved and is living at 326 9th Ave. apartment B. Todd Allen Altman, 26, of Great Falls, moved from 1316 3rd Ave. No. 3.

He met a 14-year-old girl in an Internet chat room and later admitted to twice having sex with Altman her. He was sentenced Aug. 8, and is serving a suspended sentence. Altman is 5-foot-10, 195 pounds with blond hair, hazel eyes and several tattoos including a yin and yang symbol and barbed wire on his left arm, a tribal medicine wheel and a rose on right arm, dragons on both of his shoulders and a tiger on his calf. He has scars on both wrists.

Considered a Tier II sex offender, Altman is required to notify police of his address.
