Splinters which prick the flesh enough to draw a drop of blooci should receive immediate" attention. A daub of merthiolate, ibdine or some other good antiseptic may head off serious infection. Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are common during the extremely hot weather of June, July, August' and September.

Salt tablets should be taken when drinking large amounts of water and sweating is profuse. The diet should be watched during the hot months. Starches and sweets u-e heat producing. Overloading the stomach with sweets or starches will produce sluggishness if nothing else. Obtain plenty of sleep and rest dur- ng the hot months.
