ALGONA TEACHER GIVES TALK AT WEST BEND CLUB WEST L. S. L. C. held an annual party honoring the husbands and guests last week Tuesday evening at Hotel Franklin.

1 A 7 o'clock dinner was enjoyed. The theme for the party was Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain, slogan of the Federated clubs' -in 1954. Table decorations were patriotic. The clever menu contained patriotic synonyms for the various foods. The club president, Ruth'An- dersen, welcomed the guests and gave an explanation of the miniature Liberty Bell which each club president is this year to open close the meetings and the significance of the pa' triotic project.

Response was given by Harold Mike's, who gave special mention of the club's charter number, Mrs. Nellie Emerson, who attended. Group singing was also enjoyed. Kathryn Koch sang, In a Garden Filled With Roses, and. Night Wind, accompanied by Mrs.

Helen Claiborne. Mrs. S. Schutter then presented Elizabeth Almen, English instructor at Algona, who gave an travelogue with Colored slides of her numerous' trips to Europe. Among guests Mr.

and Milton Norton, of Algona, who brought Miss Almen-with them. The party committee was Mesdames Schutter, Baas, Koch, H. and Vohg. Piano Recital Given Mrs. Helen Claiborne presented her 26 piano students in a recital at the schpolhouse recently.

Olson and the lesson. A Mighty Fortress Is Our Godf.was given by Mrs. Ken McCombs. Refreshments were enjoyed. this meeting also the society members turned in the apron and mittens they had made to send Korean children.

Two Are Honored Carol and Mary Miller entertained at a 6:30 dinner at the Miller home a week ago Thursday evening, honoring Bernie Bleuer, bride-elect, and Jean Balgeman, who left for California. Guests were Patty Ketelsen, Barbara Baas, and' Maurine Layton. Return from Chicago Mr. and Mrs. G.

L. Vohs have, returned home from Chicago where they had been since September, Mr. Vohs had major surgery in Chicago and is still recuperating. Their daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs.

D. Grettie, of Chicago, brought them home. Dr. and Mrs. H.

Frank Givens, Mrs. Maggie Dprweiler, and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Dorweiler are vacationing in Florida arid other southern points. Mrs.

Harvey Morey and Mrs. Hazle Morey visited Bob Samson, surgical patient at Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge last Wednesday. The Rev. and Mrs. E.

Children See Free Movie Saturday morning two bus loads of school children from the kindergarten through the sixth, grades were taken to Algona and attended a free Roy Rogers show. The children who were eligible to go were those who have )iad a dental examina- tion or who have an appointment for one since school began. They were chaperoned by Miss McKean and Mrs.

Ternes at the Holy.Family' hospital in Estherville Sunday. Mrs. Ternes has been there seven weeks with injuries suffered in an automobile accident. It is hoped that this week her injured leg can be taken out of traction and put in a cast. Then she could be up in a wheel chair.

HP weighed pounds and has been named Royce Edward. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Valvick are the paternal grandparents. Boy for Maurice Pingels Mr.

and Mrs. Maurice Pingel are the parents of a boy born at the Blue Earth' hospital last week Monday. He ns been named puane Michael. Mrs. Pingel and baby came home on Thursday.

Son Born to Farrows Mr. and Mrs. Dave Farrow Jr. are the parents of a boy born Friday at the Blue Earth'hospi- tal. B.

E. Gilbertson was in Clnrks Grove, Saturday on business. Mr. and Mrs. William Stubbe and Bonnie called on Mrs.

Theresa Gabel at the Holy Family hospital Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. 'William Stubbe entertained at a party at their home last Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs.

Victor Vriesen. Swea Oityaii's Sister Dies Suddenly SWEA CITY Mrs. Anna Rupel, of Charles City, sister of J. W. Broncs, ot Swea City; died recently at the home of her brother Alfred, near Charles City, of a heart attack.

Born near For- esb City, Mrs. Rupcl had married Howard Rupel at Mason City in 1917, and had made her home in South Bend, for 35 years. She had made her home with her brother near Charles City for the past three months. Burial was made at South Bend, Ind. Thursday.
