Wangsness, 80 Sun City, AZ Evelyn Franklin Westlake, 77 Crooks, SD Daniel L. Laughlin Sioux Falls Daniel L. Laughlin, 81, died Monday, October 8, 2001 at Prince of Peace after a short battle with cancer. Dan was born April 13, 1920 in Imogene, IA to Joe and Lucy (Hughes) Laughlin. He attended school in Imogene.

Dan entered the Army in 1942. and honorably served in 3 campaigns in the Pacific during World War II. After World War 11, receiving a Bronze Star for each, he was elevated to rank of Staff Seargent before his discharge in 1945. Dan married Gloria D. Warner on November 26, 1949 in Shenandoah, IA.

The couple farmed in the Shenandoah and Imogene area. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1963. Dan worked as a bartender for various establishments in Sioux Falls, and also was employed as a Janitor at McKennan Hospital. He then went to work for Bell Telephone as a Janitor until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, Dan drove the transport bus for Prince of Peace for another 8 years.

Dan was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the V.F.W. American Legion, Elks, Moose Lodge, and the Knights of Columbus. Dan is survived by two sons: Mark (Betty) of St. Paul, MN, Stephen (Carolyn) of Sioux Falls; two daughters: Monica Christopherson (Gary) of Savage, MN, Sheila Beuckens (Brad) of Sioux Falls: seven grandchildren: Clint and Wyatt Christopherson, Jessica, Wade, and Katie Laughlin, Kelli and Jami Beuckens: and all of his special friends that were with him to the end. His wife Gloria preceded him in death i in 1982.

Visitation will be Thursday the WIth, 4-8 PM, at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home, with a Scripture Vigil I at 6:00 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday the 12th, 10 AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Delores Larson Mitchell Delores Larson, age 77, of Mitchell, SD, formerly of Woonsocket, SD, died Monday, October 8, at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Funeral services are pending through the Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket, SD. Evelyn Franklin Westlake Crooks Evelyn Franklin West- lake, age 77, Crooks, SD, formerly of Okaton, SD, died Monday, October 8th at Sioux Valley Foundation Hospice Cottage. Evelyn Beatty was born February 20, 1924 at Athens, IL.

She was united in marriage with Lamoyne Franklin on December 22, 1943 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1966. She later married Robert L. Westlake in 1970. After retiring from agribusiness, they moved to Okaton, SD where they owned and operated Westlake Ghost Town for the next 20 years.

Her husband, Robert preceded her in death on December 24, 1999. She moved to Crooks, SD in 2000 and continued to operate the Ghost Town up until the time of her death. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sioux Falls and was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Murdo. Survivors in this area include her son, Rev. Chris Franklin of Sioux Falls, SD; Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday at First Christian Church in Sioux Falls.

Interment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL, at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church in Sioux Falls, or the First United Methodist Church in Murdo, SD. Dorene McBride Milks Camp Funeral services for Dorene McBride, age 81, of Milks Camp will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bonesteel City Hall, Bonesteel. Burial will be in the All Saints Episcopal Cemetery, rural St.

Charles. A wake service will begin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Episcopal Church in Bonesteel and continue until the time of the service. Clausen Funeral Home, Burke, is handling the arrangements. Dorene died October 6, 2001 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Calvin "Denny" True St.

1010342502 Robert C. Wangsness Sun City, AZ Wangsness, 80, of Brook Sun City died Monday, October 8, 2001 at Sioux Valley Hospital. Robert was born December 28, 1920 in Sioux Falls 1 to Christian and Laura Robert C. 10330 Willow Wangsness. He graduated from Washington High School.

he married Violet Holt on February 18, 1945. he was employed as head of prison industries at the South Dakota State Penitentiary until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Sun City Arizona, a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge, a past member of the Eastern Star and a past City Councilman for Clear Lake. His hobbies included golf, reading, and traveling. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lee and one sister, Carol.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Violet of Sioux Falls; one son, David Ross Wangsness of Phuket, Thailand; one daughter, Susan Little of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Scott Wangsness, Melissa Little; and nieces and nephews. Glanzer Iroquois Ernest "Ernie" Glanzer, age 89, of Iroquois, died Oct. 7 at his home. Donald Ivan Goeken Scotland Donald I. Goeken, age 67 of Scotland, South Dakota died on Monday, October 8, 2001 at his home in Scotland.

Funeral services are for Friday, October 12, 2001 at the Zion Lutheran Church at 10:30 AM with Rev. John Sieverts officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Reformed Cemetery rural Scotland. Lytle was a veteran of WWII. He married Margaret Henwood in Champaign, IL. He was a professor emeritus at SDSU and had served as state climatologist. He received the Tablet of Honor award from Kiwanis International. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert, and a daughter, Nancy Ledbetter.

Ron Hughes Madison Ron Hughes, age 62, died at the Madison Community He was born on July 22, 1939, at Madison, SD, to Lewis and Blanche (McKinney) Hughes. He married Penny Mahoney at Sioux Falls on January 29, 1968. He is survived by his wife, Penny of Madison; two sons: Don (Michelle) of Glendale, AZ, and Sean (Leigh) of San Diego, CA; three daughters: Rhonda (Dan McChesney) Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD, Kristi (Mitch) Gabbert of Woodlake, MN, Kelli (Dean) Colling of Lake Preston, SD; 18 grandchildren; one brother, Larry of Belle Fourche, SD; two half-sisters: Myrtle Coats of Madison, and Vi Bukey of Summerville, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct.

Visitation on Wednesday from I to 8 with family present form 7 to 8. He was born January 17, 1916 at Viborg. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He married Harriet Kaarup on March 20, 1947.

He was employed for 32 years at State Police Radio in Parker as Dispatcher Supervisor. was born on September 19, 1940 in Sioux Falls, SD, son of Howard and Lila (Trieber) Toft. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the Hudson Lutheran Church. Phil spent his childhood on the family farm near Hudson, attending country grade school and graduating from Hudson High School in 1959. Phil married Louella Rau on June 6, 1959 at the Hudson Lutheran Church. He worked for International Harvester in Sioux Falls from 1959 to 1973.

Phil and family then moved to Aberdeen, SD where he worked as service manager for Smith Truck Sales until March of 1978. They moved to Rapid City where Phil worked as service manager for Hershuds of Sturgis for a year before taking the service manager position with Eddie's Truck Sales in Rapid City until June 1999 when Phil and wife returned to Hudson. He was the service manager at Sterling Trucks of Sioux City from August of 1999 until his death. Phil was an avid fisherman and a diehard Packer Backer. He also loved to read, especially Louis L'Amour novels.

Phil loved his job fixing trucks and the people he worked with. He treated everyone with respect and honesty. Phil's family and friends enjoyed his fantastic sense of humor. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife and children; Phil Jr. and Rhonda Toft of Valley Springs, SD, Paula and Mark Johnson of Fallbrook, CA, Lorna and Steve Sundet of Ft.

Morgon, CO, Marc and Dawn Toft of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren and one great ter. Other survivors include Jerry and Jean Toft of Hawarden, IA, Jim and Andi Toft of Canton, SD, Mavis and Arden Fjellanger of Sioux Falls, Lonnie and Paula Toft of Summerville, SC, Lawrence and Hilma Ryken of Canton and Lorraine and Bud Hermanson of Hudson. Overend, age 81, of Elkton, died Monday at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, at the United Parish of Elkton with military graveside rites by the Glenn Stafford American Legion Post No. 200. Visitations will be from 5-8 PM. Wednesday at the Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton.

Mr. Overend served in the U.S. Army during World War I1. He farmed near Elkton. He was a Past Grand Master of the Odd Fellow.

He is survived by two sister, Marnie Herrick and Mae Buller, and two brothers, Marvin and Bob Overend. Bennett Van Heerde Colton Bennett Van Heerde 75, of Colton died Oct. 8, 2001 at his home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at Taopi Community Hall, Colton.

Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Thurs. with the family present from PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton. Survivors include his wife Lois, Colton a daughter Pam Fjellanger and her husband Dale, Sherman; a granddaughter Bridgette Fjellanger, Sherman; two brothers, Henry John, both of Sioux Falls; and sister, Jeanette Felcher, Sacramento, CA; and a sister in Law, Johanna Van Heerde, Colton.
