His background in reporting and producing special programming has touched a number of fields: interviews, sports and news specials. One of his best-remembered stints at Channel 18 was the time he became the station's "Singing Weatherman" forecasting the elements to his own accompainment on the piano. Chris Rydel, the station's weather girl, is an almost-new- better, especially if the lady of the house will be using the system. Over a period of years Ray has fielded a full variety of sports news assignments in various parts of the eastern seaboard. Willie's career as featherweight champion (1942-1950) was finally capped in 1963. with his election to the Boxing. Hall of Fame. Through the years he has developed a knowledge and understanding of athletes and athletics, people and ideas that have made competitive sports of such wide -spread interest today.

Working as a team, Ray is the man with the headline facts and figures. Then Willie, in a series of "Pep Talks," provides commentary, anecdotes and points-of-view vital to the overall sports picture. On occasion, both Ray and Willie interview special guests. Among their guests, so far, have been ex-heayweight boxing champion, Rocky Marciano, ring announcer Johnny Addie, Charter Oaks coach Ken Car-Sonny and Cher do a number in their guesting on "The Phyllis Diller Happening," on NBC-TV "Kratf Music Hall" show Oct. 25, in which they are barely recognizable.
