Alessio, chairman of the board for Alessio Corporation. The agreement brings key phases of dog racing in Arizona, nainly public relations and kennel bookings, under a single organization, Alessio said.

The agreement becomes effective April 9 with the opening of Apache Junction Greyhound Club. Alessio also owns the Yuma Greyhound Club which opens Jan. 8 but which will not be effected by today's announcement, Alessio said. BOTH THE Yuma and Apache plants are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Alessio Corporation. "The Funk circuit has a fine organization, staffed to handle such important facets as the booking of kennels, promotion, publicity and advertising," Alessio said.

Funk's Greyhound a i Circuit, headed by David K. Funk, president, and Arthur L. Funk, vice president and treasurer, has played a continuing role in the sport's growth over a span of nearly a quarter century. The Funks operate dog tracks in Tucson, Phoenix, and Amado and hope to build a track on the Black Canyon Highway between Phoenix and Prescott. The Funks also operate a dog track in Pensacola, Fla.

THE AGREEMENT will elinv inate rivalry over kennel bookings between the two ownerships. All bookings now will be handled by the Funk circuit throughout the state. The Funks also will coordinate promotion and advertising. "This agreement puts us in the position of being able to invite all the better greyhound kennels in the United States to come to Arizona," Arthur Funk declared. Alessio, who also is executive director of the new Juarez Race Track and Caliente Race Track, both of which have extended greyhound meetings, said the Funk circuit would be called upon in the future to assist in bookings and other aspects of racing in Mexico.

Bell and Hodges saw limited varsity action last year while the remaining four were on the Palo Verde junior varsity team. "Lack of experience is our main weakness," commented O'Dell, "and we also don't have a strong big man." The Titans' schedule will make it hard for them to get off to a fast start as three of their first five games will be with Cataiina.

Amphi and Rln- con, three of the best teams in the city. "We hope to have two or three of our juniors progress and become good ball players this year," concluded O'Dell. Sports editor Leroy Bearman, in a column written for today, quoted what he called reliable sources as telling him Georgia accepted the bid last Tuesday for the game Dec. 26 in El Paso. Georgia Athletic Director Joel Eaves said yesterday, after being asked about the reported Sun Bowl bid, "I will admit we are in pretty close contact those people." Under Southeastern Conference rules, Georgia (5-3-1) couldn't accept a bid formally until after its game today with Georgia Tech. Texas Tech, Bearman wrote, voted to play either Georgia or Auburn, but Auburn decided against accepting a bowl bid because of its 6-4 record. C.
