Sunday, November 9, 1980 Great Falls Tribune 3-C Big Sky Grizzlies surprise NAU 4 right up the middle for a touchdown. Grizzly linebacker Kent Clausen intercepted a Lindquist pass three plays later, stripping the ball from receiver Joe Taylor. Burtness capped a seven-play 27-yard drive with his touchdown run. Northern Arizona tried to fight back behind Lindquist's passing. The sophomore quarterback completed 22 of 36 passes for 299 yards.

But two interceptions proved costly. The Lumberjacks apparently drew even midway through the second quarter as Lindquist hit Taylor on a 17-yard toss in the end zone. However, a holding penalty nullified the score. A Northern Arizona drive in the fourth quarter was stifled by Grizzly defensive back Mickey Sutton. After moving 60 yards up the field, a Lindquist pass was tipped in the end zone and Sutton made a diving interception.
