31, 1901, 1, she moved to Hartford in 1919 and to West Hartford in 1943. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Hartford, 59 years and was active in its lay leadership. She was a gradvate of Morse College and was employed by the Children's Aid Society of Hartford in the early 1920s. She was a secretary for the Greater Hartford Council of Churches 13 years beginning in 1948. She leaves her husband, Clarence A A.

Barry of West Hartford; two sons, C. Wilson Barry of Andover, and Navy Capt. George Foster Barry of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Capt. Edwin D. Foster of Manchester; five grandsons, four granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 1:15 p.m., in the sanctuary of the Central Baptist Church, 457 Main Hartford. Burial will be in New Lebanon Lebanon. Joseph E. Benoit, 89, of 650 Samuel de Champlain, Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, formerly of Windsor, died Friday (Nov. 23, 1979) at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Manchester, N.H., he had lived in Canada most of his life, living in Windsor 20 years.

He was a butter and cheese maker in Canada 45 years. He leaves three sons, Frank Benoit of Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada, Roland Benoit and Joseph Benoit, both of Windsor; four daughters, Mrs. Cecile Bourque and Mrs. Yvette Foley, both of Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, Mrs. Rita Glenn of Montreal, Canada, and Mrs.

Laura Theroux of Danville, Quebec, Canada; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandthildren. The funeral will be Nednesday, 9:15 a.m., from he Carmon Funeral Home, 6 Poquonock Windsor, with a mass of Christian bural, 10 a.m., in St. Gabriel's Church, Windsor. A.P. Kuras Dies; Was Legislator DOERR. In Kensington. Herman E. Doerr, 88, of 150 Shuttle Meadow New Britain, died Friday (Nov.

23). Born in New Britain, son of the late Oscar E. Doerr and the Margaret (Bernasconi) Doerr, he was proprietor of Springbrook Ice and Fuel which he operated over 50 years in New Britain. He was a World War U.S. Army veteran.

He was a litelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, a corporator of New Britain General Hospital, a member of the New Britain Chamber of Commerce and a member over 50 years of the following: Centennial Lodge 118 Eddy Glover Post 6 American Legion, the Kiwanis Club, and the Fellowcraft Club Louis Koch Quarry, all of New Britain, and was a member of Ziara Grotto of Newington. He was also a member of the New England Ice Association and the Connecticut Petroleum Association. Surviving are three sisters, Miss Clara M. Doerr, Miss Louise W.

Doerr and Mrs. Helena E. (Doerr) Groth, all of New Britain; a niece, a nephew, six grandnieces and Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Britain, with the Rev. Carl G.

Stephanie Jachym Elgunise, 57, wife of Martin Elgunise and mom of Michael Elgunise of 66 Valley Crest Drive, Wethersfield, died Friday (Nov. 23) at. Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, she lived in the Hartford area all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Peter Jachym.

Besides her husband and son she leaves her mom, Mrs. Eva Kapral Jachym of Hartford, three brothers, Bernie Jachym of West Hartford, Ed Jachym of Windsor and Ted Jachym of Wethersfield. She graduated from Bulkeley High School. She was a parishioner of SS. Cyril Methodius Church.

Her occupation was being a housewife and mother 24 hours a day. She did not belong to countless organizations. The organization that she belonged to was the family. She was a Great Mom. ELLIS.

In New Britain. Chevon Kendell Ellis, 2, of 196 Woodland Drive, Hartford, died Thursday (Nov. 22) at New Britain Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his father, Derrick Murrell; his mother, Mary Ellis of Hartford; a brother, Derrick Ellis; his maternal grandmother, Pearlie Ellis of Hartford, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Charles Murrell of Hartford. Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at John C. Clark Funeral Home, 319 Barbour Hartford. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, Wilson. There will be no calling hours.

FANFRLIK. In Norwich. Mrs. Bertha M. Fanfrlik, 81, formerly of Creamery Road, East Haddam, died Friday (Nov.

23). She was the widow of Frank Fanfrlik. She was born in New York City, Jan. 30, 1898, and had been a resident of East Haddam most of her life. She is survived by a son, Frank Fanfrlik of Westbrook; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Monday, 9 a.m., at the Robinson Wright Funeral Home, Main Street, Centerbrook. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. GIOVELLI. In Hartford.

Mrs. Rose (Ricca) Giovelli, 70, of 53 Plain Drive, East Hartford, wife of Frederick Giovelli, died Saturday (Nov. 24) at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she had resided most of her life. She had been a resident of East Hartford for the last nine years.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George R. (Libby) Zack of South Windsor; three sons, Frederick Giovelli Jr.

of Islip Terrace, N.Y., Joseph Giovelli of Winter Haven, and Ernest Giovelli of Medford, N. a sister, Mrs. Jasper (Antenina) Bilello of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Garland was a lifelong resident of Hartford. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church of God and Christ, 114 Wooster Hartford. She is survived by her mother, Frances Jefferson of Hartford; a Garland of Hartford; a daughter, Terrell Jefferson of Hartford; two brothers, Lofton Jefferson and Moses Jefferson, both of Hartford; eight sisters, Joyce Holmes of Washington, D.C., Fannie Vanderburg, Audrey Dezman, Edith Powel, Phyllis Price, Inefie Halls, Lillian Basden, Loomis Young, all of Hartford, and two grandchildren. In Haddam Neck. Elsie (Wilson') Haling, 83, of Schoolhouse Hill Road, Haddam Neck, formerly of Middiesex Avenue, Chester, died Wednesday (Nov. 21) at her home after a long illness. She was born in Wales, Oct. 10, 1896, and was the wife of the late Carroll F.

Haling. She, leaves a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Stanzel of Glendale, a sister, Mrs. Amie Ciaburro of Clinton; three grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. Private funeral services will be Monday at 1 the convenience of the family in the Swan Funeral Home, 215 Main Deep River.

Murray Holmes, 32, of 39 Burlington Hartford, died Thursday (Nov. 22) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Macon County, he had lived in Hartford 14 years. He was a member of the Faith Congregational Church and a former electric motor engineer for the Laurel Automotive Co.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Annie (Robinson) Holmes, at home; a son, Murray Holmes and a daughter, Michele Holmes, both at home; three brothers, Robert Walton of Miami, Leonard Holmes of Jacksonville, and Jack Holmes of Fitzgerald, 10 sisters, Vannie of Hartford, Era and Maggie, both of Jacksonville, Ozzie of Miami, Mary Ann of Ocela, Eva, Betty Ann, Helen and Vera, all of Fitzgerald, Caroline of Miami, his father, Leonard Holmes of Macon, his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. George Shelton of Fitzgerald, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, noon, at Faith Congregational Church.

Otto J. Leopold of 50 Wayne Norwich, husband of Ruth (Oldfield) Leopold, died Saturday (Nov. 24). The funeral service will be Monday, p.m., at Church Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Norwich. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

24. Born in Hartford, he had lived in East Hartford all his life. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. He leaves his father, Raymond E. Loudfoot, and mother, Dorothy (Lemire) Loudfoot, both of East Hartford; two brothers, Philip R.

O'LEARY. Francis Richard O'Leary, 71, of Purdis Farm Lane, Ipswich, England, died suddenly Oct: 31, 1979. Dearly loved husband of Alice and father of Thomas, Timothy and John. Requiem mass took place in Ipswich, Tuesday, Nov. 6.

JOHNSON. In Detroit, Mich. Willie Mae Johnson of Detroit, died Tuesday (Nov. 20). Mrs.

Johnson formerly resided at 42 Nelton Court, Hartford. She was the widow of Preston Johnson. She is survived by a son, Alan Bowman of Detroit, Mich. Funeral services will be Monday, 1 p.m., from John C. Clark Funeral Home, 319 Barbour Hartford.

Burial will be in Soldier's Field Cemetery, Wilson. Calling hours are today, 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home. KATZ. Bernard Louis Katz, 56, of Manchester, formerly of Far Rockway, N.Y., entered into rest Nov. 24 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Katz was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in the Manchester the last 19 years. He was sales area, manager for Weather Master Industries in East Hartford and an Army veteran of World War II. He leaves his wife, Ruth (Taubman) Katz, and his mother, Rose (Abrams) Katz, both of Manchester; a son Jack H. Katz of New York City; a daughter, Susan B.

Katz of Somerville, a brother, Albert Katz of New York City, and a sister, Shirley Hartman of New Jersey. KURAS. In East Windsor. Anthony P. Kuras, 78, of 1971 Mountain Road, West Suffield, husband of Mary (Osowiecki) Kuras, died Friday (Nov. 23) at a local convalescent home.

Born in Westfield, April 4, 1901, he had lived in Suffield most of his life. He was a selfemployed tobacco and dairy farmer, retiring in 1960. He also was an assistant foreman for the Hathaway Stein Co. from 1923 to 1933; foreman for the West Suffield Tobacco Warehouse from 1927 to 1945; foreman for the American Suppliers Inc. of West Hartford from 1946 to 1953; member of the Suffield Board of Education; a former Connecticut legislator from 1954 to 1958; supervisor for the Hartford County Soil Conservation District; past chairman of the Suffield Zoning Board of Appeals; a member of the Hartford County Dairy Herd Improvement Association; past president of the Connecticut Guernsey Breeders Association; director of the Farmington River Water Shed Association; past president of the Suffield Sportsman Association; past vice president of the Connecticut Milk Producers Association, and a member of the Connecticut Farm Bureau.

He was a Suffield Rotarian and chairman of the St. Joseph's Church Building Fund. He leaves a son, former Suffield First Selectman Chester A. Kuras of West Suffield; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Klobukowski of Valatie, N.Y.; a brother, William Kuras of West Suffield; three sisters, Mrs.

Taffila Mcintyre of West Suffield, Mrs. Louise Campbell of Kansas City, and Mrs. Frances Grant of Enfield, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, 9:15 a.m., from Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, followed by a mass of Christian burial, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church.

In Bristol. Esther E. (Ghiselli) Neri, 80, of 14 Spruce Plainville, died Saturday (Nov. 24) at an area convalescent home. Born in North Haven, she had resided in Plainville the last 58 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and the Plainville Senior Center. She was a member of the Italian Women's Civic Club. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lena Zarella of Stuart, Mrs. Elsie Hart of Plainville and Mrs.

Neva Connelli of Plainville; a son, Lawrence Neri of Plainville; three sisters, Mrs. Albina Turci of Plainville, Mrs. Elda Berarducci of Plainville and Mrs. Mary Losi of Hamden; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, 9 a.m., at Plainville Memorial Funeral Home, 106 W.

Alice (Urda) Labas, 77, of 426 Allen New Britain, died Saturday (Nov. 24) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Czechoslovakia, she was the widow of Peter Labas, who died August 21, 1978. She had been a resident of New Britain for 62 years. Mrs.

Labas was a member of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, the Russian Orthodox Holy Virgin Sisterhood and the Slovak Sokol Lodge. She is survived by son, Peter R. Labas of New Britain; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Anop of Kensington; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 8:15 a.m., from Borawski-Duksa Funeral Home, 332 Burritt New Britain, and at 9 a.m.

MILARDO. In Middletown. Salvatore Milardo, 81, of Apogee Lane, Westbrook, formerly of 167 Liberty Middletown, husband of Mrs. Sebastiana (Airo) Milardo, died Friday (Nov. 23) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Melilli, Sicily, son of the late Carmelo and Francesca (Augeri) Milardo, a and had lived in Middletown for 55 years before moving to Westbrook four years ago. He had been employed at Wesleyan University for 40 years before his retirement. He was member of the Garibaldi Society, past president of the sons of Italy Society and a gold-card member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 12, Connecticut. Besides his wife, Mr. Milardo is survived by two sons, Carmelo S.

"Mel" Milardo and Theodore Milardo, both of Portland; two daughters, Mrs. John J. (Frances) Formica of Middletown and Mrs. Vincent (Connie) Gaffney of Westbrook; a sister, Mrs. Filicia Saraceno of Italy; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Monday, 10 a.m., from D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 S. Main Middletown, and St. Sebastian Church at 11 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in the family plot in St.

23, Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of James A. Magowan. Born in Manchester Nov. 19, 1952, she had been a lifelong resident of Manchester.

She had been employed at the Manchester Evening Herald as a compositor. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Lee Allen Magowan and Jeffrey Edward Magowan, and a daughter, Erin Jeanne, all at home; her father, Edward F. Kodes of Manchester; her maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Kasulki of Manchester, and a sister, Miss Tracy Elizabeth Kodes of Manchester. Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Manchester.

Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. MINTZ. Samuel Mintz, 74, of 12 Pleasant Colchester, entered into rest Nov.

24 at Hartford Hospital. Mr. Mintz was born in New York City and had lived in Colchester most of his life. He retired seven years ago as the assistant postmaster of the Colchester Post Office. He leaves his wife, Anna (Rabinowitz) Mintz of Colchester; two daughters, Carol Chemerynski of Colchester and Lois Fleischmann of East Hartford; two sisters, Rose Groobert of Miami, Fla.

and Ruth Colchester; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place today, 2 p.m., in Colchester. Memorial week will be observed at his home. O'CONNOR. In Hartford. Mae Aurora (Pustinger) O'Connor, 66, of 936 Wethersfield Hartford, died Wednesday (Nov. 21) at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Winsted and had lived in the Bronx, N.Y., many years, moving to Hartford nine years ago.

She leaves three sons, Maurice O'Connor of Billerica, Joseph O'Connor of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and Brendon O'Connor of the Bronx, N.Y.; three daughters, Catherine O'Connor and Aurora O'Connor, both of Hartford, and Patricia O'Connor of the Bronx, N.Y., and 14 grandchildren. 24 after a long illness. Born in Missouri, he came to Connecticut in 1930. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, an Elk, a Mason and a 30-year employe of Pratt Whitney Aircraft Group of United Technol- ogies North Haven, retiring in 1969. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Mary Lou) Rath of Glastonbury; a brother, Stephen Lee Potter of Plantation Key, and two grandchildren.

A private service will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Willimantic, at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. The family wishes flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to the Glastonbury Auxiliary Police Ambulance Association, Main Street, Glastonbury, or the Glastonbury Visiting Nurse Association, 35 National Drive, Glastonbury. The Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, has charge of arrangements.

SARACENO. In Middletown. Sebastiano Saraceno, 61, of 16 Pearl Middletown, died Friday (Nov. 23) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Melilli, Sicily, son of Emanvele Saraceno of Middletown and the late Giuseppina (Santostefano) Saraceno, and had resided in Middletown the last 16 years.

He was a member of St. Sebastian Church. Besides his father, Mr. Saraceno is survived by three. brothers, Antonino Saraceno and Giuseppe Saraceno, both of Middletown, and Louis Saraceno of Rocky Hill, and two sisters, Mrs.

Salvatore (Carmelina) Prezzavento and Miss Mary Saraceno, both of Middletown. The funeral will Monday, 8 a.m., from D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 S. Main Middletown, and af St. Sebastian Church at 9 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial.

Burial will be in the family plot at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral home today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Anthony P. Kuras of 1971 Mountain Road, West Suffield, a retired dairy and tobacco farmer and former state legislator, died Friday at a local convalescent home.

He was 78. Born in Westfield, Kuras came to Suffield with his parent in 1905, later joining his father as a tobacco and dairy farmer. His herd of purebred Guernsey cows won many awards for milk production, and as a supervisor of the Hartford County Soil Conservation District, Kuras made his 196-acre farm a model for modern conservation practices. Kuras retired from farming in 1960. Kuras, a Republican, was elected to the General Assembly from Suffield in 1954 and was re-elected in 1956.

He was a member of the Suffield School Board and former chairman of the Suffield Zoning Board of Apepals. He was assistant foreman for the Hathaway and Stein Co. from 1923-1933, foreman for West Suffield Tobacco Warehouse from 1927-45, and foreman for American Suppliers Inc. of West Hartford from 1946-1953. Kuras was a member of the Hartford County Dairy Herd Improvement Association, past president of the Connecticut Guernsey Breeders Association, director of the Farmington River Watershed Association, past president of the Suffield Sportsman Association, past vice president of the Connecticut Milk Producers Association and member of the Connecticut Farm Bureau.

ANTHONY P. KURAS He was a member of the Suffield Rotary Club and St. Joseph Church, Suffield, serving as chairman of the church building fund. He leaves a son, Chester A. Kuras of West Suffield, a daughter, Mary Ann Klobukowski of Valatie, N.Y; a brother, William Kuras of West Suffield; three sisters, Taffila McIntyre of West Suffield, Louise Campbell of Kansas City, and Mrs.

Frances Grant of Enfield, and seven grandchildren. The funeral is Monday, 9:15 a.m., from Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, with a mass of Christian burial, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Church. Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield.

Grace Frick Dies; Was College Dean Grace Marion Frick, the first academic dean of the former Hartford Junior College, died Nov. 18 at her home in Northeast Harbor. Mount Desert Island, Me.

She was 76. Miss Frick had lived on Mount Desert Island since 1943 with the French writer Marguerite Yourcenar, for whom she translated many works, including "Memoirs of Hadrian," "Coup de Grace," and "The Abess." A native of Toledo, Ohio, and an early resident of Kansas City, Miss Frick earned a bachelor's degree and a master's at Wellesley College and did doctoral work in English literature at Yale University. After teaching at Stephens College in Columbia, Barnard College in New York City and New London College for Women, she was named in 1940 dean of the Hartford Junior College, which later became the Hartford College for Women. She left that post in 1943 to become literary agent, and translator for Yourcenar, who had taught French at the college. During their time in Hartford, both Miss Frick and Miss Yourcenar were active members of the arts community that flourished during the war years around the Wadsworth Atheneum, then headed by the late A.

23) at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Manchester, and was formerly of Glastonbury, living in Stamford the last years. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert F. (Cynthia) Perloth of Stamford; a brother, Joseph Heller of Manchester, and two sisters, Madlyn Heller of Manchester and Mrs.

Margaret Healey of Wethersfield. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 9:15 a.m., from Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Rocky Hill, followed by a mass of Christian burial, 10 a.m., at St. James Church, Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Monday, 7-9 p.m.

YEDOUTZ. In Windsor. Anthony Yedoutz, 72, of 140 Chestnut Springfield, formerly of Hartford, died Friday (Nov. 23, 1979) at a local convalescent home. Born in Hartford, he had lived in Springfield, the last 10 years.

Before retiring, he was employed as a truck driver. He was a World War Army veteran, having served in the European theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Harry (Veronica) Pfau of Unionville, and a nephew and two nieces.

The funeral will be Monday, 10 a.m.,. at Carmon Funeral Home, 6 Poquonock Windsor, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poquonock. There are no calling hours. of the Springbrook Ice and Fuel Co.

in New Britain, died Friday. He was 88. Doerr was a World War I Army veteran and a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a corporator of New Britain General Hospital and a member of the New Britain Chamber of Commerce.

For more than 50 years he was a member of Centennial Lodge 118, Eddy Glover Post 6, American Legion; the Kiwanis Club and the Fellowcraft Club Louis Koch Quarry, all of New Britain, and Ziara Grotto of Newington. He leaves three sisters, Clara M. Doerr, Louise W. Doerr and Helena E. Groth, all of New Britain.
