Gardner Butler became the pucliftsers at $50,000 without a competitive bid. Then followed the sale of SIXTY-TWO THOUSAND TIES. Of those 42,000 were stated to be at Bmshear city, and the residue at or near the line of the third section of the road.

The first bid came from Messrs. Gardner Butler, which was speedily followed by a bid of $15,000 by Messrs. Rexford Stuart, and then a final bid of $16,000 by first bidders, and they lecamc the purclia.wrs at that sum. THE FOURTH SECTION T7as next offered ly the marshal.
