The talented artist gave a benefit'performance here January of this year.

There Is no admission charge. will be takenduringtheperformance for the benefit of leged students at the high school who cannot afford to school boojts, a Kiwanis Club project. Part of the proceeds will be used to defray the artist's expenses. Hartman will present selections on. the accordion combined with the Lowry organ to give a stereo sound of a full orchestra.

One of those rare, naturally gifted musicians, he Is self- instructed. His career encompasses travelling on the Orpheum, Pantages and Fan- clion Marko circuits; appearing at royal command performances in England and playing for prominent personages ir Washington, D.C. last October, Hartman was chosen by the United States Accordlon Association as its representative to the International Accordion Association convention In Australia. While appearing In Las Vegas, the artist established a performance record. He was the first to introduce the Barber of Seville overture on the accordion In Los Angeles, a musical accompalishment never previously attempted.

He also toured New Zealand and Aus- tralfa with an opera company. A native of Minneapolis, Uartman Jias been playing' the accordion for some 40 years. Williams, Retiring Stonfield Teacher A teaching career spanning nearly half a century ended May 29 for Mrs, Marian Williams, Stan field Elementary School teacher. Mrs. Wljliams, who was born In Salem, New Jersey, in 1897, began her wreer InMan- hattan Beach, Calif, In 1919. The following year sho taught at Dyrene and in 1927 at Casa Grande Elementary School. Stw has lived through more historical events than the children teaches know about, Including Arizona statehood, Wright brothers' first flight, and the Roosevelt Dam's com- pletion, to name a few.

She has wild stories to tell about school teaching In those days with sometimes as many as sixty students in one class. Mrs. Williams estimates she has taught over 1SOO students and touched the lives of: many more. A. surprise dinner was held May 24 in her honor.
