A daughter, Annita Kay Deason died in 1986.

Joyce H. Matuska Former Great Falls resident Joyce H. Matuska, 68, of Layton, Utah, died in Happy Jack, of heart failure. Vigil service is 7 p.m. Wednesday in O'Connor Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial is in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Matuska family. She was Matuska born July 3, 1931, in Great Matuska Elvena A.

Isakson Falls. She attended St. Mary's Catholic grade school and high school, and was part of the last graduating class of St. Mary's. She married Robert Larter in 1949 in Great Falls.

They divorced in 1951. She married James R. Matuska in 1953 in Fort Benton. He died Dec. 14, 1982.

She was a homemaker and worked various jobs outside the home. She was an active member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, traveling, OBITUARIES and collecting frogs. Survivors include four daughters, Robin Watz of Layton, Utah, Peggy Olson of Great Falls, Kathleen Adams Happy Jack and Marcia Griffin of Cedarville, her parents, Emma and Bob Snyder of Great Falls; five sisters, Margie Hillyard and Janet White of Great Falls, Bonnie Teague of Elko, Lennie White of Princeton, Ky. and Deborah Dailey Mcllrath of Eugene, three brothers, Chuck Dailey and Pat Dailey, both of Great Falls and Tom Dailey of Cut Bank; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Virginia Schye WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS Virginia (Anderson) Schye, 87, died Saturday in Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth after a long illness. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday in Twichel Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs. Burial of ashes is in Mayn Cemetery. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth and Twichel Funeral Home of White Sulphur Springs are handling arrangements.

Schye was born Dec. 27, 1911, in White Sulphur Springs and attended schools there. She attended Butte Business College. She married Elmer Schye in White Sulphur Springs in 1938. He died in 1988.

She was appointed by Gov. Aronson to serve on the Public Employees Retirement Board, and she held that post for more than 10 years. She played in the MacLean Orchestra, was a Vista Volunteer and belonged to Daughters of the NileSapphire Temple No. 79. She was also a member of many social clubs and participated in many community affairs in White Sulphur Springs.

She moved to Forsyth to be near her son. She enjoyed fishing and the mountain area around White Sulphur Springs. Survivors include a son, Bill Schye of Colstrip; three grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1988. Kathryn Wright HAVRE Longtime Blaine County resident Kathryn Cecelia Wright, 84, died Saturday in Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial is in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Simons BIG TIMBER Mabel Louise Simons, 87, of Big Timber, died Monday in the Pioneer Medical Center of Verner L. 'Vern' Johnson Twilight Theater movie projectionist Verner L. "Vern" Johnson, 87, 13 7th St. died Sunday in a local hospital of natural causes. Cremation has taken place.

He was raised in Butte and attended schools there, graduating from Butte High School. He married Tisha Maxine McFarlane. They divorced in 1954. "He was a movie projectionist for 59 years, retiring in 1996 when the Twilight Theater closed. He was a member of the International Alliance of Stage and Theatrical Employees since the mid-1930s.

She worked at Herberger's Department Store the past 12 years. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star and Congregational Bible Church in Fort Shaw. She enjoyed racquetball, roller skating and shopping. Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Raines of Park City and Norma J. Stanley Reece of Colorado Springs, three sons, Larry Stanley of Great Falls, Roy Stanley of Kalispell and Mark Raines of Stevensville; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She lived most of her life in Livingston, where she worked various jobs. She worked for the state of Montana until her retirement in 1974. She moved to Cascade in 1993 to be near a daughter. She enjoyed animals and plants. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Lin (Betty) O'Neill of Cascade; a brother, James Leslie Killorn of La Mesa two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five -great grandchildren.

We thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to us at the loss of our dear Scott. We thank you for the phone calls, visits, cards, food, flowers memorials. Also, thank you to Pastor Waag for his words of comfort, to Julie Waag and Marjorie Kahler for the beautiful music, to the Faith Lutheran Ladies for the luncheon and to Scott and his staff at O'Connors for all their kindness. She moved to Pioneer Medical Center in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Olive McLeod of Big Timber and Mary Ann Schild of Grafton, Ohio; a son, Rudolph (Sonny), Hague of Kent, 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A son has died. Solomon Edward Hopkins WOLF POINT Solomon Edward Hopkins, 41, died Sunday in his home from complications of renal disease. Vistation is 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Tuesday in the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Prayer service is 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday in the United Dakota Presbyterian Church.

Burial is in Oswego Presbyterian Cemetery. Hopkins was born Sept. 5, 1958, in Wolf Point and was raised there. He earned an Associate Applied Science degree from Fort Peck Community College in June 1998. He worked as a carpenter for the Fort Peck Community College in Wolf Point for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to music, especially Indian music. Survivors include four sisters, Judy Hopkins Sarah Figucroa and Dinah Little Head, all of Wolf Point, and Hannah Haws of Great Falls; a half sister Suzanne Jones of Wolf Point; and a half brother, Robert Hopkins of Poplar. Sella A. Prater BIG SANDY Retired teacher Sella "Sally" A. Prater, 97, died Saturday in Big Sandy Medical Center of natural causes.

10, 1902, in Reynolds, N.D., and attended schools there. She graduated from Normal College in Grand Forks, N.D., in 1922. She moved to Big Sandy in 1922 and taught fourth grade there until 1943. She married Ralph Prater on June 21, 1935, in Havre After their marriage, the couple lived in Big Sandy. He died Feb.

14, 1989. She worked in a local grocery store until 1945. She moved to the Big Sandy Medical Home in 1986. She belonged to the Bear Paw Chapter No. 100; Order of Eastern Star; Pioneer Bridge Club; Sandy V.F.W.

Auxiliary as a life member; and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and playing cards. Survivors include a son, Bernie Ellingson of Big Sandy; and a grandson. Shikany, 83, died peacefully of natural causes Thursday, October 7th at her home. She was surrounded by her family. Helen was born on September 8, 1916 in Great Falls to Louise and William Lustgraaf. She attended the Ursuline Academy and in 1934 graduated from St. Mary's which was dear to her throughout her life.

Helen married Roy Shikany in 1939. He was truly the love of her life. He preceded her in death in 1992. Helen worked as a dietitian supervisor at the Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls for over 20 years. Helen enjoyed visits with her many special friends and her family.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved football, especially Notre Dame and the Denver Broncos. Helen was very creative. She had a flair for decorating not only in her home but also in the many meals that she prepared. Her energy and spunk were an inspiration to us all! Helen is survived by one sister Joie Sweeney (Bernard) of Great Falls, brothers, Martin (Hazel) Lustgraaf of Yuma, Arizona and Edward (Gladys) two Lustgraaf of Madison, Wisconsin.

Three sons, Terry of Billings, Bill (Sandy) of Billings, and Chuck (Gwen) of Tigard, Oregon, a special "daughter" Bev Bastin in Havre, and a loyal and devoted nephew Steve and her sweet dog Jada, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Helen had eight grandchildren: Melanie, Celeste, Teri, Mike, Tony, Kim, Lisa and Keri. She had seven great grandchildren and two more on the way. Helen was preceded in death by her mother Louise and her father William, a sister Mary and a brother Bud. Our sweet Grandma Helen has wings now to fly.

Survivors include her husband of Chinook; three sons, Alvin Fox of Phoenix, Harve Fox of Arizona City, Ariz. and Wayne Fox of Kalispell; a daughter, Norma Morris of Broadview; two stepsons, Gary Wright of Malta and Donnie Wright of Ogden, Utah; two daughters, Carma Chiodo of Waterford, and Donna Weaver of Willard, Utah; and 24 grandchildren and numerous great- and great daughter, Rita grandchildren. Ann Carver, died July 4, 1999.

Albert Marius Ley CONRAD Albert Marius Leys, 99, died Sunday in the Conrad Nursing Home of natural causes. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church. Burial follows in Hillside Cemetery. Pondera Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leys was born May 21, 1900, in Goes, Holland. He moved to Amsterdam, with his parents in 1904. The family moved to a farm east of Conrad in 1910 and then to a farm west of Ledger in 1913. He attended mechanics school in Kansas City, in 1916, and helped build Highway U.S. 2 over Marias Pass in 1919.

He married Esther Eckstein Jan. 11, 1930, in Conrad. She died in 1994. He operated the elevator in Ledger, a sawmill in Lincoln, farmed north of Conrad and owned and operated the Conrad Bakery. He was also Conrad City Superintendent and owned and operated the West Apartments in Conrad, retiring in 1962.

After retirement, he spent winters in Arizona and summers on his son's farm near Choteau. Survivors include a son, William Leys of Choteau; two daughters, Alice Meier of Conrad and Irene Oldenkamp of Camp Connel, Calif; a sister, Martha Peterson of Shelby; 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren.
