Wayne King's Program To Be Well Balanced Sunday Girl Scout Council Elects; Other News About Scouting Women's Clubs Will Be Held Convention In Oshkosh Marriage Of Interest Here Is Solemnized A wedding of interest In this vicinity took place at the St. Paul Street United church, St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada, on Sept. 6, when Miss Joyce Alva Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Arthur E. Bennett of that city, became the bride of Glenn Addison Stok A program of interest to all adults has been arranged, and awards for service will be made. The get-together provides an opportunity for persons similarly engaged in the work to becom friends. Mrs. T.

H. Squier of Milwaukee, a member of the Girl Scout Regional committee, will talk. Miss Jane Herriot of this city will relate her experiences while she was at the Girl Scout Canadian-Great Lakes Senior camp at Harrison, where Girl Scouts of Great Lakes Region 7 and Canada shared a camping period. A third speaker will be Mrs. Roland Bub, who was at Camp Edith Macy in New York this summer.

She will give the group a word picture of the camp and activities. Moving pictures of Day Camp at Evergreen park, that were taken during July, will be shown. with Wayne King; 9 Ballet Tap and Cheek to Cheek with Perry Franks and Janyce; 10 The Flag with Ken Stevens and the ensemble. The second section of the concert will include: 1 Lullaby for Latins byKing; 2 Peg O' My Heart by Fischer, and Alexander's Ragtime Band by Berlin; 3 Stardust by Carmich-ael, Jealous by Little, and Lonesome, I Guess That's All, by Roberts, featuring Wayne King; 4- Begin the Beguine and Waltz in Swingtime with Perry Franks and Janyce; 5 Herbert's Natoma, Kiss Me Again, and Kiss in the Dark; 6 Good Day by Barbour and Play Gypsies by Kalman with Nancy Evans; 7 medley of timeless favorites by the orchestra and choir; 8 Night and Day by Porter, Yours by Roig, and The Lord's Prayer by Malotte with.Ken Stevens; 9 I'll See You Again by Coward, and The Waltz You Saved For Me by King. The above program is subject to change.

The thousands of Sheboygan music lovers expected to attend the Sunday concert by Wayne King and his orchestra at the Municipal auditorium will be treated to a well-rounded and'bal-anced musical program. The two-part concert will feature the Wayne King orchestra, Ken Stevens, the King choir, Nancy Evans, Perry Franks and Janyce and the ensemble. In the first section will be the 'following: 1 Medley of Strauss waltzes, Fledermaus, Vienna Life, Tales of Vienna Woods and Blue Danube; 2 Ah Sweet Mystery of Life by Herbert, The Whiff enpoof Song, and Study in Blue by Clinton; 3 American Bolero by Brown; 4 Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ra by Shannon, Great Day by Youmans and All the Things You Are by Kern with Ken Stevens; 5 Josephine by Wayne King; 6 A tranquil medley by the orchestra and choir; 7 Brazil by Barroso and Ciribiri-bin by Pestalozza with Nancy Evans; 8 The Golden Saxophone Convention sessions of the Wisconsin Federation of Women's clubs in Oshkosh next week Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 25-Z7. will have "Brotherhood" as theme.

Herbert Kohler, who is chairman of the committee on Wisconsin Women for the 1943 Centennial, will tell of plans for the year's observance of the century of statehood. Others to speak at the opening session will be Frank V. Powell, Madison, of the State Bureau for the Handicapped, whose topic will be "Helping the Physically and Ejarne Romnes, Madison, executive secretary of the Wisconsin Welfare council, who will talk on "Helping the Mentally Handicapped. An ad-rrs on "Problenji of Minority Groups- will be given by Mrs. Wendell Green of the Chicago Urban league at the cloe of the afternoon meeting.

Two Wisconsin club women will speak in the afternoon.

and Mrs. Elmer Prinsen of Cedar Grove was the scene of a 2 o'clock wedding on Saturday, Sept. 13, when their daughter, Doris, exchanged vows with Robert II. Soerens. The latter is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. B. Henry Soerens of Oostburg. The ceremony was read by the Rev. J.

R. Euwema. Miss Lenore Prinsen was her sister's maid of honor, and the bridesmaid was Miss Lois Heinen. Another sister, Phyllis Prinsen, was In the role of flower girl. A brother of the bridegroom, Harold Soerens, served as best man, and the groomsman was Orville Lo-huis.

Pianist for the service was Mrs. Frank Novshek, the bridegroom's cousin. A wedding dinner for 40 guests at the Prinsen home was followed by an evening reception for 300 relatives and friends at Town Wilson hall. Out-of -county guests were: Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Novshek of Port Washington, and the Misses Lucille Burmeister and La Vonne Ten Pas, Milwaukee. Following a honeymoon, the destination of which was not 'revealed? Mr. and Mrs. Soerens will be at home near Oostburg after Sept. 21.

A graduate of Cedar Grove High school and the Sheboygan Business college, the bride held an office position with the Cedar Grove Co-operative Exchange. Her husband was graduated from Oostburg High school, and served three years with the U. S. army in the southwest Pacific and in Japan. He is employed as a mechanic at the Jesse Hopeman garage at Hingham.

Newly Wedded Couple Returns After Honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mihm, who were married in Dubuque, on Wednesday, Sept 10, have returned from a honeymoon spent in Iowa and Illinois. The former Miss Margie Hess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

John Hess, 1608 Superior avenue, and the bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mihm, 1528 S. Fourteenth street, were wed in a 5 o'clock private ceremony at which Justice Thomas Barrett officiated. After Sept.

21, the newlyweds will be at home at Crystal Lake. Both were graduated from Central High school, and the bridegroom served in the U. S. navy for three years. Jefferson P-T-A To Have Meeting Jefferson Parent-Teacher association will hold its first meeting of the new school year on Monday, Sept 22.

Following open house from 7:15 to 7:45 o'clock, the business session will be conducted by Harvey Hinze, president, in the kindergarten room. Election of officers of the Girl Scout council, details on the All-Adult-Girl Scout Get-Together, and additional' information on the training course for leaders is comprising recent news about those active in the Girl Scout movement Mrs. Ben Harff was elected to the office of president of the Girl Scout council at the annual business meeting held last week Friday afternoon in the Girl Scout House She succeeds Mrs. Edward Hammett, who held the office for two years. It was formerly called commissioner rather than president, but has been changed to conform with the national policy. Mrs.

Harff was executive director of Girl Scouts for a number of years. Other officers elected at the council are the following: Mrs. Roland Eub, first vice-president; Mrs. R. H.

Thieman, second vice-president; Mrs. Otto Gunther, secretary; Miss Rhoda Kaufmann, treasurer; Mrs. Edward Hammett, corresponding secretary. Three new members elected are Mrs. Perry McCumber, Mrs.

John Heronymus, and Mrs. Arthur Neuses. The retiring president, Mrs. Hammett, expressed her gratitude for the co-operation that was extended to her during her term of office. Retiring and re-elected officers and committee chairmen submitted their annual reports, which were discussed.

An amendment to the by-laws, changing the annual council meeting from September to January, was voted upon and passed. When the All-Adult supper and program is held at the Guild hall at 6:30 o'clock on Monday evening, Sept. 22, Mrs. Robert Thieman will be the chairman. Her committee is comprised of Miss Rhoda Kaufmann, Mrs.

George Schilstra, Mrs. J. W. Koenig, Mrs. Paul Johnson and Mrs.

Edgar Katte. Film To Be Shown At Public Library The Children's department of Mead Public Library will show the film, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p. and again at 2:30 p. m. One of the very good friends of all young people is Huck Finn, and the Library is happy to be able to show this film.

All young people are invited. Lodge To Meet Members of Sibley Rebekah lodge No. 83 will meet at the I.O.O.F'. temple in the village on Tuesday evening. Sept 23.

Mrs. A. L. Oosterhous and Paul Buelke will have charge of the program. Refreshments will be served by Mrs.

Dale Ford, Miss Jessie Dille and Erie Chaplin. Anniversary Party Relatives and friends last Sunday surprised Mr. and Mrs. Anton Brunner of New Holstein. The occasion was their fifth wedding anniversary.

Cards were the entertainment for the group. The training course for new leaders and leaders who have registered without training continues, and is proving both interesting and beneficial for those participating. There is still time for any persons who wish to take advantage of the course that is being offered. There are to be two more sessions, one on Wednesday, Sept 21, end the last one on Monday, Sept 29, both to be held at the Girl Scout House at 7:30 p. m.

Mrs. Perry McCumber and Mrs. H. D. Van Duser are the trainers for the course.

These women have had a great deal of training along this line, and are well qualified to give a very comprehensive course. It is the policy of Girl Scouting that all potential leaders hava training before they become lead ers. A fundamental Girl Scout or Brownie training course Is essential for all. It simplifies the work for the leader to have a planned program and an outline to follow, when she has a general knowledge of Girl Scout activities and policies. Birthday Celebrated Mr.

the faculty women of the Vocational school arranged a kitchen shower for the future bride. The affair was held at the home of Mrs. Martin Thornton, 323 Washington court. Miss Lucille Eggert had dinner guests at the Port Washington Country club on Wednesday, Sept. 10, honoring Miss Volkman's coming marriage.

Another shower for the bride-to-be was given Tuesday, Sept. 9, by Miss Arelisle Quimby at her home, 1029 N. Sixth street Games were played, and Miss Volkman received a gift from the hostess. Bride-Elect Honored Miss Winifred Napp of Grimms, who will become the bride of Mii-ton Buss, route 1, Newton, on Saturday, was feted on Sunday evening at a miscellaneous shower given at the home of the future bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Hilda Rodewald, at the latter address, and attended by SO guests.

Stokdyk, and the latter was at her son's wedding. The service was read at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. Duncan Mc-Tavish. Attendants of the couple were the bride's sister, Miss Ber-nice Bennett, and Edward W. Sampson.

Ushers were Roger Whitten and Keith Wallace, cousins of the bride. Mrs. Nora Munra, soloist, sang "Where'er You Walk" and "Ich Liebe Eric Dowling playing the organ accompaniment. A reception for 50 guests was held at the Bennett home, and the couple left later by train to spend their honeymoon in Montreal and Quebec. After Sept.

21 they will be at home in Milwaukee, Edurated in Canada, the bride was active in journalism on the Eastern coast of the United States. Mr. Stokdyk attended Hope col lege in Holland, Marquette university, Milwaukee, and the North Carolina State college. Miss Mueller Is Appointed School Of Art Member The Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio, announces the appointment of Miss Marian Mueller, of Sheboygan, to the staff of its school of design. At the Toledo Museum of Art shs will teach adult classes in color and design, design in crafts, drawing, art education for and children's classes in color, design and drawing.

Miss Mueller is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Mueller, 330 Wisconsin avenue. Walther League Plans Surprise For its September activity, the Sheboygan zone of the Walther league executive board has planned a surprise party to be held on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21.

The committee in charge is revealing no definite plans, but requests that all those planning to attend wear old clothes, and bring a box lunch with something to drink. St. Paul's Lutheran church, located on Lincoln avenue and Thirteenth street, is where the group will assemble at 2 p. and will then proceed to its destination. The day's activities will end about 7 p.

m. In case of rain, the party will be postponed. An invitation is extended to all Lutheran young persons in this vicinity to attend, and to enjoy the activities planned. Auxiliary Is Organized Here When the International Association of Machinists, local No. 251, held its regular meeting Tuesday evening in Central Labor hall, Mrs.

Caroline Steglbauer, state or ganizer, was here to form a Indies' auxiliary. Temporary officers were appointed by Mrs. Steglbauer, and they are the following: Mrs. Frieda Rowling, chairman; Mrs, Viola Romalis, recording secretary, and Mrs. Eunice Holden, financial secretary.

First Meeting Of Season Held Here Tuesday Evening The first meeting of the Longfellow Parent-Teacher association was held In the kindergarten rooms on Tuesday evening with Mrs. Herbert Helmke presiding. Mr. and Mrs. Christ Willadsen were hosts to nine couples at their home in Sheboygan Falls. Games were played. Parent-Teacher Meeting Is Held Here Wednesday To make their opening meeting Wednesday evening more instructive as well as enjoyable, Mrs.

Melvin Mohr, program chairman of Sheridan Parent-Teacher association, fnvited two Central High school students to address parents and teachers assembled in the kindergarten rooms. The two who spoke in observance of Constitution day are members of Arnold E. Melzer's debate classes. Arthur Laun chose for his topic, "The Constitution the Key to the Future." He emphasized the fact that active participation of all citizens was essential in order that the constitution might function as its founders intended. As a sequel to his topic, Mary Ieinecke spoke on "The Constitution the Framework of Our Way of Life." She compared the way of life in a democracy with the way of life under communism, and pointed out the importance of the constitution because it guarantees the freedoms ordinarily taken too much for granted.

Her listeners were impressed with the necessity for alertness so that this precious heritage may be preserved. James W. Regenfuss, the new supervisor of physical education in Sheboygan, addressed the audience on "Health and Education Plans and Program for the Coming Year," and left this thought with his listeners, "that a sound boy and girl make a sound world." An introduction of the teachers to the parents followed, and then the assembly was led by Richard E. Riehl in the singing of favorite old-time songs. The meeting adjourned after refreshments were served.

Honor Couple On Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Casper, 1132 Huron avenue, -entertained at a dinner party for their daughter, Irmina, and her fiance, Walter Ohl-schmidt Among the guests were the parents of the future bridegroom.
