The net income for the year was $56,110.41 as compared with for the previous year. The operating revenue, or the cost to the individual, is noted to have decreased $1,947.91 from the year 1933, and that is probably caused, partially at least, by the fact that sale is now entirely by meter, with smaller charges resulting in many cases, than from a fiat rate basis. Operating expenses increased over the previous year. This increase arises from the breaks in the 30-inch reservoir line in the spring of 1934, and also from expensive repairs made by the leak in the 12-inch river crossing at the Reiss dock.

Maintenance of transmission and distribution has increased by $8,403.17. The report of this year would be much the same as that of last year if it 'were not for the increase in operating expenses. Work for the year was somewhat unusual. A large number of valves were added, hydrants removed, and valve pits installed. These are all shown in detail in the full report.

The cash position of the department is satisfactory and no difficulty is anticipated on the $200,000 bond issue which begins in 1935. 1922, New York World; 1923, Memphis (Tenn.)
