The Laramie County Coroner's office said a 14-month-old boy had been killed in the storm. His name and the circumstances of his death were not immediately released. Police said all but two of the 34 in jury victims had been treated and released from hospitals. Laramie County Memorial Hospital one of three hospitals in this state capital of 60.000 people initially had reported receiving "several severe injury" cases.

Ed Herschler had asked President Carter to declare parts of the city a disaster area, Earlier, Capt. Merv Mydland of Wyoming Disaster and Civil Defense Agency said that 150 houses in the expensive Buffalo Ridge area were heavily damaged, and 45 to 50 were destroyed, some with only fireplaces and chimneys left standing. He said the Buffalo Ridge school was "almost gone," but no children had been there at the time.

At the Cheyenne Trailer Court, only debris could be seen. Hundreds of houses had windows blown out and roofs knocked off. Heavy debris was scattered all over the north side of the city. There were unconfirmed reports that some persons were still trapped in their wrecked homes hours after the tornado struck. Authorities were making door-to-door searches for victims and possible gas leaks.

"We had not been receiving death certificates of people we thought we should have," he said. Soon after the home closed, a judge gave the state Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors permission to revoke the license of the mortuary's proprietor, Don Coldsnow, Biery said. Coldsnow was unavailable for comment late Monday.

(AP) Thirty-one decaying bodies were found Monday in an abandoned midtown Kansas City mortuary, where they apparently had lain since the business closed nearly a year ago, police said. "In the basement there were caskets stacked three high," said Dr. Richard Biery, director of the city health departmet. "There was a body thrown on a table with a sheet thrown over it.

As I looked, the sheet moved, then moved again. Then a rat ran out from under the sheet." Biery said the house was "very messy," with boxes, papers and records scattered throughout. "They apparently just walked away from it," he said, adding there was evidence that the building had been broken into since it had been closed. 62 83 76 70 .02 cdy clr cdy cdy rn clr cdy cdy cdy .16 clr .05 Cdy clr clr clr clr cdy 88 67 86 68 86 70 100 73 (USPS 030240) General Information 336-1130 Circulation 336-1226 ClaaaHlad 336-1130 SPOrt I-1" 336-1131 City Editor 336-1137 Missed Your Argus-Leader?
