Tribune, Sunday, Aug. 6, 1950 ANNOUNCED Sunday last at the bon voyage party given by the bride-elect's parents at their Scenic Avenue home in Piedmont was the engagement of Thelma Arlene Lachelt to Alfred LeRoy Phelps. Their wedding date will be set when the Theodore H. Lachelts return from Europe. Hawaii Trip Is Honeymoon A Berkeley man, John Sydney Russell, claimed Joan Ruth MacPhee, daughter of San Francisco Supervisor Chester R.

MacPhee and Mrs. MacPhee, as his bride at formal rites July 15 in the Little Chapel of Lakeside across the Bay. The bride, a graduate of University of California, is an Alpha Delta Pi member. John, son of Mrs. Mary Lee Tewes of Hawthorne Terrace, Berkeley, and Sydney H.

Russell of San Francisco, also attended University of California, where Sigma Nu was his fraternity. The couple is honeymooning at the Roval Hawaiian, Honolulu, and on their return will live in San Francisco, where they are building a home on Riverton Drive. K. B. Wallace of the Baptist Church officiated at the recent wedding at which Marjorie Elaine Allen of Berkeley had her name changed to Mrs. Edward D. Lyles.

The ceremony occurred at the Little Chapel of the Flowers in Berkeley. Ruffles of net edged the yoke of her ballerina length net were. repeated on her gauntlets, and cascaded down the back of the skirt. A coronet pearls secured her fingertip length wedding veil. Ardis Hamilton of Chico was her friend's maid of honor, following Dorothy Allen and Susan Carol Palmer, bridesmaids, up the aisle.

Each had. a jeweled. fan with white bouvardia instead of a traditional. bouquet, and all wore net frocks with snug bodices and full skirts. Susan Palmer of Orland was flower girl, carrying a basket of bouvardia with her blue organdy dress.

John D. McGinnis of Seattle performed the best man's tasks, while those of ushers went to Lauren Mattson and Darrell McPhail. Lloyd R. Allen escorted his daughter to the altar GUEST AT SUN VALLEY A midsummer guest at Sun Valley, Idaho, is Mrs. John Schaffer of Piedmont.
