Coy, who remembers preparations here for the Dempsey-Gib-bons fight at Shelby in 1923, was graduated from high school atj Seattle.

He worked for a time in! salmon canneries in Alaska. Coy majored in dramatics at the University of Washington, Seattle, before going to New York in 1929. He had been on the Broadway stage for seven years, before signing a contract with Universal Pictures in Hollywood in 1936. After serving four years in the Army during World War II, Coy Optimist Club's junior speaking group committee. Walter Hicks arranged for the fund-raising event.
