Eldred Simmons, killed in Korea in action October 16, 1951, were held yesterday afternoon a't 2 o'clock from the First Christian church with the Rev. Robert E.

Austin officiating. Two songs, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," were sung by Woody Templeman, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Austin. Pallbearers, all members of the American Legion, were Frank Bonderer, Tony Pfaff, Walter Forbis, Howard Lecch, J. W.

Tucker Oren Singleton. Color bearers were Victor Collins, Leo Englert, Cecil Ashlock and Harold Miller. Earle Teegarden served as chaplain with Dr. John R. Neal as commander.

Bob Weihe was bugler and the National Guard furnished the firing squad. Interment was in the Coloma cemetery, under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home. R. Phillips of Meadville, who were celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mra. Van Vencill and daughter of Columnbia, and Mr.

and Mrs. Jess Brown of Browning were afternoon callers. Elmer Bachtel of Nettleton was a business visitor in Chillicothe Saturday. Mrs. Porter Dennis of Milan Saturday shopping in Chillicothe.

Mrs. Raymond Amery and daughter of Braymer were shoppers in Chillicothe Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam J.

Babb spent the week-end in Kansas with relatives. Mrs. Wayne Saale of Meadville Saturday shopping in Chillispent seven women and one child present. Several could not attend because of illness. The president, Mrs.

Lena Whyte, presided and Mirs. Leah Dunkin gave the devotionals with song. scripture, meditation and prayer. The lesson study was on ParaTalkes on the missions in guay. that country were given by Mrs.

Oca Drake, Mrs. Dunkin, Mrs. Carl Potter, Mrs. Elfa Flentje and Mrs. John Israel.

Charles Smith of Carrollton spent Saturday shopping in Chillicothe. Betty Lou Doudson of Princeton was a shopper in Chillicothe Saturday. Roscoe Plummer and Lola Plurnmer of Hale were in Chillicothe on business today. Local News Notes of Wheeling, and Louis and Annabelle Metzner of Rich Hill township were in Brookfield Sunday. They were dinner guests of Mrs.

Ada Foggin. SURGERY FOR GENE SIMMONS Gene Simmons, assistant county extension agent, underwent an appendix operation yesterday at the Chillicothe hospital. He is reported in satisfactory condition. HOSPITAL DISMISSALS Laura Wortman, Chula, S. B.

Mohler, 1710 Jennings Place, and Mrs. Cilfford Thompson. Chillicothe Route 5, were dismissed Sunday from the Chillicothe Hospital. Dismissals today were Mrs. Melvin Watkins and baby of Dawn.

The superintendent of the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, E. L. Lawe, sent a letter thanking the class for the twenty-four dozen cup cakes which the more than 100 children of the Home enjoyed as a Valentine gift. Mrs. F.

S. Littrell expressed her appreciation of the class participation in the birthday dinner and celebration in honor of Mr. Walkup and herself at the church Sunday, March 9. She expressed delight in receiving many cards, hankies and gifts, corsage, a blooming plant and birthday cake from the class. Many cheer deeds were reported and Sunshine Mothers with birthdays during February were remembered.

Mrs. Clarence Rice was named to fill the vacancy in the Sunshine Mother list, due to the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Lowe. The class pledge of $5 to Home Missions was reported paid. The class voted to bake cup cakes for an Easter remembrance to the Missouri Baptist Old Folks Home at Ironton, Mo.

The president appointed the social committee, with Mrs. Clarence Arthaud. as chairman, to: meet conjunction with Class 2 for making the Easter breakfast plans for the church. During the afternoon, much was done toward completion of a quilt top. Mrs.

Alfred Love was authorized to purchase material for setting some of the quilt tops together. The lesson. "How Joseph's Dream Came True," found in the 41st and 42d chapters of Genesis, was given by Mrs. Charles Hapes. The meeting adjourned and members found places at the tables decorated in the St.

Patrick theme. A. plate lunch of chicken salad ribbon sandwiches, coffee and mints was enjoyd. The climax of the afternoon was the sharing of Mrs. F.

S. Littrell's birthday cake presented her at the dinner Sunday. It was decorated with shamrocks, roses and lace, and was backed by Clarence Arthaud and Mrs. Frank Kimmis. Opening Sunshine Pal exchange packages completed the afternoon.

Women's Fellowship Meeting The First Christian church women's felloship met March 14, in the church parlors. Mrs. Delbert Carter, president. conducted a short Lusiness meeting preceding the program. An invitation to attend the county fellowship meeting at the Highland church March 21, was read and all members were asked contact group Icaders.
