Kendall Drive project better known as the Little Mountain entrance to San Bernardino The Improvement on this road will include lowering the grade and lengthening out tbe curves Contractors' bids for this Job will be advertised next Thursday March 26 The third road Improvement project of interest to this section is known as the corner improvement in Coachella Valley From this point to the Imperial county line summer cloudbursts and floods are a menace to the road Drainage canals and ditches will be built along a stretch of road five and nine-tenths miles long so that the water may get past the road without washing it out Bids on this will also be advertised April 2 Another road Improvement project coming up soon but not immediately is a stretch of proposed grading of road shoulders along two and four-tenths miles of highway 99 from Call-mesa towards Beaumont The money for this project is now available to the highway commission's use but plans are not finally completed Mr Hamilton stated Another road running straight east from Colton to connect with the present route 26 the Redlands road will be graded and paved and a new bridge crossing the Santa Ana river will be built A number of dips in the highway running through Corona will be taken out as another project Also seventeen miles of highway improvement in the Palo Verde valley on route 64 will be built Mr Hamilton prior to the date of the election are eligible to vote The county board of supervisors appointed three commissioners John Holditch George Roberson and Walter Bunker who are candidates for re-election Additional candidates who have been properly nominated are Connell Ray Bryant Lyk-ken and Jack Williams Four camps have definitely been selected in the national forests in the San Jacinto mountains for the use of the public The land is granted by the Forest Service and except for the county camp ground at Idyllwlld no charge will be made at any camp At the Idyllwlld camp a charge of 25 cents per day will be made A Bottel county horticulturist and leader in the move for improvement of the four sites reported progress in the work when he appeared before the supervisors Monday He urged early action by them in order to have the grounds ready for the campers The four sites are located in ideal parts of the mountains Streams are available for water supply and the laying out of camp sites will be easily arranged Two are near the Keen Kamp entrance to the Idyllwlld country one is near the Idyllwlld townsite and another is along the Banning-Idyllwild road at Fuller's Mill Palm Springs
