6B Sun-Sentinel, Wednesday. August 10, 1994 OBIYUAKIIIB McMichael, 68, Broward businessman was also active in local government. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Broward County Commission in 1966 against incumbent F.W. "Bill" Stevens. He served on the County's Zoning Board and was a frequent visitor to Oakland Park town meetings to discuss issues even though he lived in Fort Lauderdale at the time.

He served as president of the Oakland Park Lions Club. In recent years, Mr. McMichael and Marjorie McMichael, his wife of 49 years, made their home in Hillsboro Beach. The couple met while Mr. McMichael was stationed with the Navy at Port Everglades.

"My father was a strong person who, if he set his mind to do something, he did it! He wouldn't accept no," Robert McMichael said. In addition to his wife and son, Mr. McMichael is survived by two daughters, Glenda Hopkins of Valdosta, and Cheryl Hather-lee of Ashville, N.C.; and two brothers, Elliott McMichael of Fort Lauderdale and Claude McMichael of North Carolina. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1199 E.

McMichael was the kind of man who liked to make things happen in business.

Mr. McMichael, the former owner of several businesses in Broward County, died of a heart attack on Monday while vacationing in Clayton, Ga. He was 68. "Some people aren't happy unless they have 50 irons in the fire at the same time," said his son, Robert Dale McMichael of Lighthouse Point. "My father was a very active man." At 27, Mr.

McMichael started his first business, the Dixie Lumber Co. in Oakland Park, after working a few years for Causeway Lumber Co. in Fort Lauderdale. Despite his limited business experience, the company grew under his leadership, expanding into stores around Broward, Monroe and Collier counties, his family said. He sold the company in 1973 with an intent to retire, but then started up the McMichael's Travel Agency in Fort Lauderdale, his family said.

"His only training was through the industry and the school of hard knocks," Robert McMichael said. Mr. McMichael, a Democrat, Robert Hutton, The Associated Press Robert Hutton, an actor who appeared in dozens of movies and was best known for his 1944 role in Hollywood Canteen, died on Sunday in Kingston, N.Y.
