allround poise that's accrued to Jets with Super Bowl triumph Overlooked is spirited New York defense confidence soaring from holding Colts Coach Weeb also smartly weeded out aging mediocrities This year second place is important too with new playoff system Look for Oilers to finish behind Jets but they wont survive against Wester Division winners WESTERN DIVISION -Essentially a two-team race (though San Diego Chargers nave some pretentions for three-way battle) That means Oakland Kansas City which had identical 12-2 regular season records and could very weU wind up same again Personnel-wise nobody in AFL matches these dubs Raiders may be more stable at all positions but Chiefs are most awesome particularly in line For regular schedule the choice to nose out Oakland By MURRAY OLDERMAN FINAL PREDICTIONS PROSPECTUS Final season pre-merger finds pro football running full team ahead No abatement in excitement or tension Certainly no lack of exposure Strategy-wise
