00 4A The Clarke County Tribune Thursday, August 9, 2007 Obituaries Hattie Lucille Davidson Creighton Hattie Lucille Davidson Creighton passed from this world into heaven Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Services were held August 3, 2007, at Rolling Creek Baptist Church. Lucille was born June 1, 1923, in Clarke County, and lived here all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Leolen Creighton, and survived by her children, Jackie, Martha and James. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandsons, Justin Creighton, John and James Lawrence, and Andy and Stephen Creighton, who were all an eternal joy in her life.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, C. N. and Minnie Davidson; and her brothers, Sammy, Pete and Billy Davidson. Lucille is survived by her brother, Morris Dearman of Stonewall, and sister, Mrs. Geneva Wilkins of Quitman.

Lucille enjoyed many lifelong friendships in the community and will always remain in the hearts and memories of those she loved, and those who loved her. Her life is a lasting legacy of indefatigable strength, quiet determination and unwavery love. Lucille was a source of unending kindness to family and friends. Annie Abston Dikes Services for Annie Abston Dikes were held August 1, 2007, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Rev.

Jessie Griffith and Rev. Pike Smith officiated. Mrs. Dikes, 83, of Quitman, died July 30, 2007, at Lakeside Living Center. She was born April 2, 1924, in Choctaw County, to John and Ada Roberts Abston.

Survivors include three sons, Dale Dikes and Francine, Hattiesburg; Terry Dikes, Quitman; and Bobby Dikes and Teresa, Quitman; a sister, Eathel Franks, Melvin, grandchildren, Dale Dikes, Waterford, Mi; Stephanie Parvin, Hattiesburg; Kim Phillips, Meridian and Lance Dikes, Quitman; and three great-grandchildren. George Vernon Kemp George V. Kemp, 93, was born on July 22, 1914 and left us to be with the Lord on Thursday August 2, 2007. Survivors include one son, Robert Kemp of Mobile, Alabama, and three grandchildren; Lori, Pat and Mickey Kemp all of Mobile. Vernon will be remembered for his love for Clarke County and his love for his family and friends.

He always had a helping hand for family and friend. He will be sadly missed by his three dedicated friends; Rosie Thornhill, Catherine Robinson and Joe Schaniel. Christian Singles News The Clarke County Christian Singles will celebrate their 5th Anniversary Saturday, September 15th, 2007, at The Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The church is located four miles west of Quitman on Highway 512. Mr Tom Lester will present the program.

They spent the night at Timber View Lodge, where they also had their Bible studies and ate lots of good food. They traveled a few miles down the road each day to Cross Mountain Ministries, in Kemper County, where they enjoyed numerous activities like swimming, basketball, pool, and the most fun of all, horseback riding. The kind and loving people of Cross Mountain took all the kids on a six mile horseback ride. (Andy) Cochran The next Clarke County Christian Brotherhood Activity Meeting will be held Monday, August 27, at Stonewall First Baptist Church. It is only fitting that we meet at Stonewall First Baptist Church for this meeting. Our Disaster Relief efforts were first discussed in this church in 2005. Brother Rex Yancy a former pastor of Quitman First Baptist Church, needed support for the relief workers operating out of his church.

The men and women stepped up at once to provide help for these victims on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Men and women of the Brotherhood began working to pro- Faye Smith vide support for relief workers at Pascagoula First Baptist Church and continued to do so for about 35 straight weekends. When the Clarke County Baptist Disaster Relief Training was completed in March 2006, our people were on site with Brother Al Green at Bay St. Louis First Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis Mississippi.

From July 2006 to the present our people have worked there feeding Disaster Relief Workers one or two weeks of every month. It appears that this mission will be coming to a conclusion.
