Miriam will be dearly missed by her husband of 36 years, Roberto Rodriguez; her son Gamalier Rodriguez of New Castle, DE; her daughter and son-in-law Yaritza "Ritzy" Rodriguez and Enrique Monserrat of Wilmington, DE; and two grandchildren, Aylin M. and Amaris N. Monserrat. Also surviving are her sisters, Aida Mendez, Genoveva Vega, Maria Mendez and her husband, Israel, Zoraida Mendez and her husband, Angel and Paula Mendez and her husband, Rodolfo, all of Puerto Rico. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 10 AM at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, where friends may visit on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

"DICK" HODGSON AGE: 84 WILMINGTON Miriam Rodriguez, age 65, of New Castle, DE, passed away at Christiana Hospital on Thursday, October 27, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, Miriam was the daughter of the late Ciprian Men-dez Rodriguez and Herminia Rodriguez. She worked as a seamstress in Puerto Rico and came to the United States in 1980. Her brother, FRANCES MARIE SAMMONS I CAROLINE AGE: 93 Caroline S.

Abbott of Dover, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, October 27, 2016, at her home. She was 93. Mrs. Abbott was born on August 22, 1923 in Felton, Delaware (on her mother's birthday). She was the daughter of the late Clifford Morris, Sr.

and Caroline (Carrie) Angstadt Simpler, of Felton. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: twins Clifford Morris, Jr. Caleb Oliver (lost at sea during WWI), and James Barrett Simpler, and her husband, US Army-MSGT Herbert E. Abbott, Sr. (Life Member-Dover Fire Department).

She graduated from Felton High School in 1941 as Valedictorian of her class and then graduated from Goldey Business College, in Wilmington. She worked for the DuPont Company in Wilmington during World War II and then as Secretary to the State Archivist in Dover, for seven years. She retired from the State Bureau of Museums in 1988. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover and served on numerous Boards and Committees. She was a member and officer of the old Dover Business and Professional Women's Club of the Y.W.C.A.

and member of the South Dover Elementary School P.T.A. She served 34 years on the Kent County Easter Seal Society Advisory Committee, as chair for 20 years and was on the Board of Directors of the Easter Seal Br i 991 S. ABBOTT DOVER Society of Del-Mar-Va for 25 years. She is a member of the Colonel Haslet Chapter NSDAR, serving as Regent and committee chairman. She was interested in genealogy, along with Delaware history.

She is a Charter Member of The Friends of the Delaware Archives, Inc. and member of the Dover Modern Maturity Center. She is a life member of the VFW Post 8801 Auxiliary. She is survived by her son, H. Earl Abbott, Jr.

and wife Carol (Wyoming, Delaware); two daughters: Dorothy Caroline Abbott (Wyoming, Delaware) and Kathryn Jane (Abbott) Becker and her husband Walter (Dover, Delaware); sister-in-law, Jane Simpler MacGinley (Castle Rocks, Colorado); nephew Vern Abbott and wife, Jan (Buena Vista, Colorado) and niece Judi Abbott (Dover, Delaware). She was very proud of her three grandchildren: Matthew Becker (Wilmington, Delaware), Jennifer Becker (Smyrna, Delaware) and Jonathan Abbott (Milwaukee, WI). Family and friends are invited to visit on November 1st from 5-8 pm at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware. A private burial will be held Wednesday morning. Celebration-of-Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2nd at First Baptist Church, 301 Walker Road, Dover, Delaware.

In his last years, even though physically disabled, he took great pride in and enjoyed his granddaughter, and his faithful Chesapeake Bay retriever, Bubba, who recently predeceased him. Barry is survived by his son, Barry, (Lauren Bi-liski) and his beloved granddaughter, Charlotte. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Elwood T. Eveland, Sr. and Janeann Eveland, who spent most days by his side during his long illness.

Also surviving are Barry's siblings, Elwood T. Eveland, Jr. (Susan) and Heather A. Scott (Jason), as well as his niece and nephews. A viewing will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Pike Creek on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7.

Dick was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Virginia (Fitzpatrick) and Laurence Hodgson. He moved around the country with his family during the Great Depression before graduating from Washington Lee High School in Virginia.

He went on to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War after high school. After serving his country, he furthered his education by earning degrees from Wesley College and East Carolina University and began working on his Master's Degree at West Chester University. Dick pursued a teaching career beginning at Krebs Elementary School in Newport, DE before going on to teach at The Tatnall School for many years. While at Tatnall, he taught History as well as coached Cross Country and Track. It was at Tatnall that he was able to share his love of flying airplanes with many students by starting the Flying Club.

He helped several students earn their private pilot's license; he even landed an airplane on the main lawn of Tatnall' campus at the disbelief of many. During this time he also taught fly ROSALIE "ROSIE" AGE: 74 Passed away peacefully Sunday, October 23, 2016 Rosie was born on November 18, 1941 to the late Luigi and Josephine Spinnato. She graduated from West Catholic Girls School in Philadelphia. Rosie married her loving husband, Edward Magee, on November 24, 1962. She loved bingo and retail therapy at the Dollar Tree.

She attended adult Day Break at the Modern Maturity Cen she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Sammons brothers, Ben and Joseph Krakowski, parents Bernard and Tessie Krakowski. Franny is survived by her son Albert Sammons, Jr and his wife Monica, and brother John Krakowski (Joan). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ra-chael, Carl, Tessa, Taylor, Damian, Wesley, and Rylee, four great grandchildren, Alijah, Cadence, Dyllon, and Rosie and special friends, Phyllis, Carol, Debbie, Joan, Janet, Dawn, and nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles and her Arrow family. After leaving Tatnall, he began working for Summit Airlines which was a cargo airline based out of Philadelphia.

During his 10 years at Summit, he rose to the title of Chief Pilot. After Summit Airlines, Dick went to work at Flight Safety at Wilmington Airport. While there he taught and helped re-certify corporate pilots for more than 10 years. He was also named head of the duPont Company's flight education program while at Flight Safety. Dick continued to be an avid pilot into his 70's.

He loved golf and traveled extensively with his wife upon their retirements. He also enjoyed watching his grandson compete in various sporting activities. Dick touched many people's lives and will be missed my many. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Sherri (Skinner) Hodgson whom he met flying; his son Mark and his wife, Kristin of Wilmington and his grandson, Colin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, John, Larry, Virginia and Helen.

Funeral services will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10 AM, where friends are invited to visit after 9 AM. Doug was a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather and son. He loved spending time with his grandson Joshua, with whom he shared a special bond. Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713. www.mccreryandharra. com BARRY J. EVELAND, SR. AGE: 59 WILMINGTON, DE Frances Marie Sammons, (Franny), 76, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 in her home surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with stomach cancer.

Franny was born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 23, 1939. She met her husband, Albert Sammons Sr. while working at Wool-worths where he came in to order milkshakes from the girl with pretty blue eyes. Together they owned and operated Arrow Leasing Corporation in Bear, Delaware for 18 years. She was a member of Red Hats and Bitch and Stitch and enjoyed bowling on leagues and gardening.

Most importantly, ANTHONY MICHAEL RUSSO AGE: 26 CLAYMONT Anthony Michael Russo, 26, of Claymont, Delaware transitioned to his heavenly home on October 21, 2016. Anthony was born and raised in Delaware, graduated from Concord High School. Anthony is survived by his father and step mother Thomas and Lucila (Cel) Russo, mother and step father, Dana and Michael Fin-egan Jr, Brothers Michael Finegan III, Zion Russo and Sister Amanda Russo. He also had numerous grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Anthony will always be remembered for his smile and his infectious laugh.

Anthony loved his Philadelphia Eagles and had a fascination with the Minions and Harry Potter. He was always a kid at heart. Anthony will have the following services: In Delaware, Catholic Mass service will be held: November 12, 2016 at at St Peter's Catholic Church at 521 Harmony St, New Castle, DE 19720 private burial will follow after the mass. Barry departed this life peacefully on October 25, 2016, following many years of battling illness and disability from a stroke. Barry was a 1975 graduate of Ann Arbor High School and attended Rutgers University and the University of Delaware. However, he preferred to work with his hands, and worked over the years as a forklift operator and warehouseman, as a member of the Teamsters Union. In his earlier years, he enjoyed athletics, and played football at Dickinson High School and at Ann Arbor.
