It has discovered that the su- John Swope, son of the.uontns magnate! (yes, there is a son of a utilities magnate in this both landed in TugweU's rural resettlement administration. This is undoubtedly a record leap for two such young conservatives.

Still another small group has negotiated a jump to rural electrification. These are men with pull beyond the ordinary. The regular patronage machine here is overtaxed as a result of NRA dismantlement. MILLIONAIRES It is against the law for anyone to tell you who are the millionaires to be af- by Mr. Roosevelt's newly proposed wealth taxes.

But it is all right to toll you where they are, or rather where the leading ones were in 1932. Persons with incomes of. more than a million, dollars that year were divided as follows: Delaware, one (undoubtedly a duPont); Michigan, one (probably Hen- preme court clipped its powers by the NRA decision, just as the decision affected nearly every other new deal agency. The decision stopped it from doing anything about wages, hours, production control, The only ideas it could play with wero Japanese imports, the processing tax, and the subsidy scheme which is contained in the AAA amendments now being passed in congress. Now with Mr.

Hull on a rampage against the subsidy, and the AAA inclined to agree with him, the committee is out in the middle of the car tracks with no place to go. against it. Tho pro-Guffey croWeT'claims 55 cent for it. Tha mine workers claim 75 per cent for it. You may take your pick of these contentions, but you add up the flg- ures you will find one of the things wrong with tho coal business; namely, that there are 20 to 30 per cent too many operators.

FIXED? The White House has not been worry- ing as much atwut the house insurrection against the holding companies bill as you may think. Everything is supposed to be fixed for Vice-President Garner to name men favorable to the White House viewpoint as senate conferees. No matter what kind of bill is passed by tho house, the senate conferees there seems to be no other possibility than that the House will give in. PLAN SLKI'RISE PARTY TULARE, June 25. Lloyd Strand of Our Saviour's Lutheran church in charge. Mr. Erickson born near Bergen, Norway, March 27, 1856, and died at Yokima, Washington June 19, 1935, at the age of 79 years, 2 months, 22 days. S.

F. Erickson came to Sparta, from Norway, when he wss fifteen years of age. He worked as laborer in a factory. Ee came to Spink county, then Dakota Territory in 1873 and homesteaded the quarter on James river, now known as the Sanford Lundstrum homestead. While here he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Lundstrum.

To this union four children were born, all living, namely: Mrs. Ida Scheldt, of Tippenish, Tim Erickson of Buffalo, S. Mrs. Julia Olson of Tlppcnish, Wash, and Oscar Erickson. 'of Aberdeen, S.

D. Mrs. Erickson died in 1910. Later Mr. sevelt's ex-director of the budget) peared at Athherst college recently deliver a commencement address, he was introduced as "the next president the United States." Many people ht.ve been introduced that way who never became president, but it is a further indication of a probable surge for Douglas, of which you were warned two months ago.

One of those supposed to be interested confidentially in Douglas is Frank Stearns, the Boston friend of Calvin Coolidge. Douglas is in tho same position Mr. Hoover was once in. He can be a democrat or a republican, and he is young enough to wait five years or more, Coal operators, opposing the GufTey- Snyder bill, dispute the assertion recently made in this column that a majority operators, as represented want the bill.
