Hanes Archibald David Hanes, 54, 15 Fauquier Place, Newport News, died Sunday in McDonald Army Hospital Ft. Eustis. A retired major of the U.S. Army, he was employed as a marine engineer at Ft. Eustis.

He was a member of Transporation Lodge 337, Ft. Eustis; National Sojourners Lodge and Reformation Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of WTorld War II and Korea. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Helen Louise Hanes; his daughter, Mrs.
