6B Sun-Sentinel, Saturday, June 3, 1989 OBITUARIES Janet Taylor, first BCC employee J. Pikul, analyst who murdered wife lors moved to Fort Lauderdale, Mrs. Taylor went back to work as a secretary, this time for the Broward County School Board. When BCC was created under the auspices of the School Board control was transferred to the state in 1968 Mrs. Taylor decided to switch jobs.

She retired in April 1988 after serving as a secretary for five BCC presidents, her husband said. Also surviving are a son, Thomas T. of Arlington, a daughter, Nancy McGaha of Black Mountain, N.C.; and a sister, Charlotte Wallace of Fort Lauderdale. Services will be at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Jennings Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale.

The family asks that donations be made to the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Mrs. Taylor's name. "When we first started out, it was a very small, family-type organization," "Jan" Taylor said in a 1985 interview. "There were a lot of social activities such as teas and things that you seldom hear about anymore." 1 In the interview, Mrs. Taylor, who retired as executive secretary 28 years later, recalled the early years at BCC: "You name it, and I did it.

I did everything, including making coffee and preparing the payroll." The first college was housed temporarily in crude, wooden barracks at the old Naval Air Station near the site of today's Fort Laui'e iale-Hollywood International Airport. Twenty staff member'' worked there until the campus was tioved to Davie in 1963. The junior college has since grown to four, campuses. Mrs. Taylor was reared in her Mary Bain Pikul.

An autopsy was planned, but hospital officials did not know when it would be done. Neither hospital nor police would comment on the nature of Mr. Pikul's death. A jury convicted Mr. Pikul of murdering his second wife, Diane, 44, on Oct.

24, 1987. Mr. Pikul said he killed his wife when she attacked him with a knife after a quarrel over an unfamiliar brand of condoms he found under her bed. Prosecutors said her beating and strangulation were motivated by Mr. Pikul's fear of losing the couple's two children and by Diane Pikul's threats to blackmail him.

He received his Masters Degree at Syracuse University and taught at Rye High School, NY for 9 years. Mr. Walsh served as a Lt. In the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He was Stone Scholar at Columbia Law School and loined the New York City law firm of Cahill, Gordon and Reindel and served on the Law Review. Mr Walsh is survived by his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Cindy Cross of Naples, FL and Meghan E. Bickert of Woodcllff Lake, NJ; two sons, John T. Walsh of Boynton Beach and Thomas D. Walsh of Loveland, CO.

WITTENBERG Debra Alison, 35. Beloved daughter of Jerome and Corinne Wittenberg ot Boca Raton, FL, died in a snorkel-ing accident in Phillipsburg, St. Maarten on May 31, 1989. Debbie was instrumental in starting and administering a support group for suicide survivors while she was employeed at the Boca Raton Community Hospital. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Carl; a daughter, Julie Roberts; brother, Joel (Sandy) Barez, both of Las Ve native Canova, W.Va., and attended Marshall University in Huntington for two years until "the money ran out," her husband said. She worked as a secretary for two years in the state House in Charleston, before moving to Miami in 1943 with two girlfriends. "She came looking for adventure," Taylor recalled. "There were 120,000 military people stationed or being trained there. I happened to be one of them." Taylor, who was in the Air Force, met his future wife at a dance that year.

"I knew what I was looking for. I met her in September and proposed in November," said Taylor, who is a retired purchasing officer at the old Landmark Bank. The couple married on April Fool's Day 1944. In 1958, two years after the Tay gas; her sister, Debbie of New Orleans and many dear friends whom she loved. We've admired your strength and courage.

Joseph Pikul, a former Wall Street securities analyst who was convicted in March of murdering his second wife, died on Friday. He was 54. A doctor told Mr. Pikul's third wife that her husband died of heart failure stemming from cancer of the liver and small in-, testine, attorney Ronald Bekoff said. Mr.

Pikul, confined in the Orange County Jail without bail following his second-degree murder conviction, was admitted to Arden Hill Hospital in poor condition after fainting a week ago, said his third wife, He moved to So.
