Erard-Coupe, who sang with the Merrymacs pop group, then became a musician and bandleader at many of Broward County's top lounges and hotels, will be do buried in Derry, N.H., today. He died on Monday at a nursing home in Manchester, N.H., at age 85. He had lived in Fort Lauderdale for. almost 33 years.

Mr. Erard-Coupe, who used the By RAY LYNCH Staff Writer stage name Clive Erard and wrote the children's Knick-Knack Song in 1946, was born into great wealth in Manchester, England, in 1903. He was the son of Zona Vevey and Max Erard, superstars of English Vaudeville during the early 1900s. "They were comparable to the Beatles in their day," said Mr. Erard-Coupe's son, Peter, of Mount Laurel, N.J.

Mr. 'Erard-Coupe and a sister were raised on a great estate in the north of England and as children Doris P. Faneck, biology teacher Faneck, teacher Widowed two years earlier and raising a small child by herself, Mrs. Faneck visited Broward County in 1954. A year later, she accepted a job teaching biology at South Broward High.

About 1964, she transferred to Plantation High, where she continued to teach biology, and occasionally math and chemistry. She retired in 1977. "She loved every second of it," James J. Faneck said of his wife's 37-year teaching career. "She was one of the few who talked with parents at night or met with them" about their children's problems.

In addition to her husband of 30 years, she is survived by a son, John Hey of Concord, two brothers, James and Ben Polson, both of DeRidder, La; and two grandchildren. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Plantation. T.M.

But the rags-to-riches of Clive Erard's parents collapsed back into rags between 1925 and 1935. Bad investments, hard times, changing tastes and fast friends left Vevey and Erard broke.
