2 THE COLUMBIAN-PROGRESS THURSDAY, JUNE 28, 1984 Obituaries James Lee 'Son' Allen James Lee Allen, 73, known affectionately as "Son," died Wednesday, June 13 at his home in Leverett's Chapel, Texas, after an extended illness. Mr. Allen was a native of Columbia. He was the son of the late Johnny C. and Mae Thompson Allen of Columbia, and the grandson of the late John T.

Allen, who was the jailer in Columbia for many years. Mr. Allen retired in 1975 from Gulf Oil Corp. He worked for the company for 41 years. He was a resident of Leverett's Chapel the past 30 years.

Mr. Allen was a member of Laird Hill Baptist Church. Services were held Thursday, June 14 at Rader Funeral Home, Rev. W.N. Parrish officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Henderson, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eunice Allen of Leverett's Chapel; two sons, Charles Lee Allen of Leverett's Chapel and Johnny L. Allen of Sabine, Texas; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Edwards of Arkansas Pass, Texas and Mrs.

Kathleen Demetreu of Fort Meyers Beach, Fla. Tom Davis Sr. Funerial services for Tom Davis, 84, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 22, from the Ott Lee Chapel in Morton. Rev. Bobby Phillips and Rev.

John Goodhue officiated. Interment was made in the Morton Memorial Garden in Morton. Davis passed away Wednesday afternoon June 20 at the West Scott Baptist Hospital in Morton, after a lenghty illness. A retired farmer, he was a native of Rankin County and had lived at Pulaski for the past 24 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs.

Nola Davis, Morton; five sons, Tom Davis Morton, Robert Lee Davis, Morton, Earnest Davis, Ridgeland; Linn Davis, Pelahatchie, and Glenn Davis, Ridgeland; six daughters, Mrs. Louise Boone, Columbia, Mrs. Gladys McDaniel, Pickins, Mrs. Neva Broom, Morton, Mrs. Nellie McBride, Morton, Mrs.

Virginia Thompson, Morton, and Linda McNabb, Pulaski; 38 grandchildren and 17 great-children. Pallbearers were James Floyd McBride, Joe McBride, Ernie Davis, Tommy Davis, Gene McDaniel, and Dale Thompson. Vonnie Ford Gandy Vonnie Ford Gandy, a longtime employee of New Orleans Furniture Company in the maintenance department, died Wednesday, June 13 at the VA Hospital in Jackson. He was 63-years-old. Mr.

Gandy lived at his residence on Highway 98 East in Columbia the past 47 years. He was a native of Stateline, born Feb. 14, 1921. Mr. Gandy was a veteran of the U.S.

Army during World War II. He had retired from New Orleans Furniture Company Aug. 19, 1983. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Columbia. Graveside services were held June 15 at Spring Cottage Cemetery.

Jimmy Cox officiated. Pallbearers included Charles Howard Gandy, Thomas Ford Gandy, Mitchell Ham, Mike Ham, Larry Dunaway and Tom Anderson. Mr. Gandy is survived by his wife, Ida Bell Gandy; three daughters, Martha Lane Gandy, Joyce Vonn Gandy and Mrs. Celia Simmons, all of Columbia; three grandchildren, Shelly, Will and Illa Simmons; and one brother, Ferris Gandy of Picayune.

Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Benton Ross Geiger Benton Ross Geiger, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Geiger of Columbia, died Thursday, June 21 at Marion General Hospital. Graveside services were held Sunday at Columbia Cemetery, 1 Bro.

Les Musselwhite officiating. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Geiger; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Edsel Geiger of Columbia, and maternal grandparents, Eugene Brown and Myrtle Brown of Columbia; and several aunts and uncles. New dentist, Dr. Lloyd Wolfe, to practice with Dr. Crawley Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs.

Arlie Hammond Mrs. Arlie Hammond, 74, died Wednesday, June 21 at Marion General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Hammond, a native of Mississippi, was born April 30, 1910. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Kokomo Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hammond was a resident of Floadrian Manor Nursing Home on North Main Street at the time of her death. Funeral services were held Friday at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. James Yates and Rev. Joe Moulds officiating.

Burial was in the Kokomo Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Stone of New Orleans, two sons, Harold D. Hammond of Columbia and Robert E. Hammond of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs.

Lottie Cheek of Laurel; and a large number of neices and nephews. Mrs. Ollie Sanders Mrs. Ollie Sanders, 82, died June 5 at Marion General Hospital. Mrs.

Sanders was a member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church, Rev. Charles Nicholson and Rev. Curtis Sanders officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Anna S. Raile of Biloxi; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Willie Pearl Cunningham of Denham Springs, and several nieces and nephews. Hillary 'Mac' McKenzie Jr.

a Hillary affectionately McKenzie, known died Sunday, June 17 at Forrest General Hospital after an extended illness. He was 55-years-old. Mr. McKenzie was a retired paint contractor in New Orleans, La. for 20 years.

He was born in Columbia July 22, 1928 and lived here the last nine years of his life. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 19 at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Ministers at the funeral included Rev. B. Alfred Jones, Rev.

Jackie Cooke, Rev. David Dewease and Rev. W. Wallace. Burial was in the Hurricane Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ray Breland, John David Terrell, Robert Terrell, Charlie Wooten, Wayne Clinton, Glen McKenzie, James K. Polk and Jimmy Wayne McCraw. Mr. McKenzie is survived by his wife, Mrs. Aline McKenzie of Columbia; three daughters, Mrs.

Frances Malcolm, Mrs. Elizabeth Cox and Mrs. Theresa Stringer, all of Columbia; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Hillary McKenzie a brother, Bobby McKenzie of Columbia; and three sisters, Mrs. Betty Terrell of Bogalusa, Mrs. Helen Thiberville of New Orleans, and Mrs. Lois Faye McCraw of Columbia. Curtis 'Curt' Youngblood Curtis "Curt" Youngblood, 67, of Columbia died Wednesday, June 13 at his residence.

Mr. Youngblood was the son of Wesley and Sophronia Toney Youngblood. He was born Feb. 2, 1917. His wife, Lessie Mae Youngblood, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Foxworth. Burial was at the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Youngblood is survived by a brother, Wesley William Youngblood of Cumpton, three sisters, Mrs.

Alberta Youngblood of Foxworth, Mrs. Murtis Youngblood Pattern and Mrs. Ellen Youngblood Ratcliff, both of Memphis, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Two brothers, the late Eugene Magee of Foxworth and the late Owen Youngblood of Loftin, Texas, preceded Mr. Youngblood in death.

Dr. Lloyd B. Wolfe a native of Columbia and recent graduate of the University Medical College School of Dentistry, is returning to Columbia to practice dentistry. Dr. Wolfe, who received the DMD degree at the spring UMC commencement exercises, will be an associate of Dr.

Ken Crawley, at Crawley's 440 Broad St. office. Dr. Wolfe is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Lloyd Wolfe of 1702 Church Street in Columbia. Along with his DMD degree, Dr. Wolfe received several awards at the UMC commencement, including the Academy of Rep. Wayne Dowdy to host local meet Fourth District Congressman Wayne Dowdy (D-Mississippi) will hold a town meeting in Marion County on Thursday, July 5. Congressman Dowdy said all Marion County residents are invited to the meeting scheduled for 12 noon in the Justice Courtroom in the new county office building in Columbia.

"I'd like to meet with you to hear your ideas about problems of interest to you, so I can take them back to Washington," said the second-term Congressman. "As always, my staff and I will be available to meet with any of you in private should you want to discuss specific problems you are Dowdy said.
