Griffith, a 1954 graduate Ridley Park High Schoo attended Pennsylvania Stat University before entering th Army in 1959. He had duty with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 101st Airborne Division and the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), a unit of the "Green Berets" before assignment to Vietnam.

He returned to the U.S. and moved to Columbus, Ga. His wife and daughter, Geraldine, will live there while he attends the advanced infantry officers' course at the Army Infantry Center, Ft. Benning, Ga. Spec.
