ALEXANDER Mr. Howard Lee Alexander, 66, 3975 Orange Blossom died Monday in a local hospital. Born in Madison, he came to Orlando in 1948 from Indianapolis. He was a salesman for Atkins Inc. and attended the Presbyterian Church.

He was also a Mason in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Surviving, are his wife, Mrs. Dora Alexander; a brother, J. F. Alexander, Springfield, three sisters, Mrs.

JOHN C. HARLIN John C. Harlin, 80, father of Mearle T. Harlin, 2518 Boyd Florida state bank examiner, died recently at his home in Gainesville, Mo. A member of the Missouri state legislature, Mr.

Harlin had served more than 50 years as a public official in Missouri and was president of the Bank of Gainesville. and his wife had planned to make their annual winter visit to Orlando when he became ill. yesterday nominated S. Merle Heasley as a member for a four-year term effective Jan. 1. Heasley, realtor and active in civic affairs, would succeed Clarence Johnson, who is retiring after 12 years of service on the commission. The nomination is subject Heasley to confirmation by city council, probably at today's weekly session.

He, was nominated by Mayor J. Rolfe Davis. Heasley's nomination amid Heasley comments by Commr. A. P.

Clark that newspaper articles have inferred the commission is "Davis dominated" and that he and Commr. Robert Overstreet were "Davis boys." "Personally I resent it," he added. "NOT CONTROLLED" Davis declared he had never asked any of the members to vote for anything and commented "I think we have a good commission, but it is not a controlled commission."
