She taught us how to love and be loved with an open heart. She loved to laugh, and loved to make those around her laugh, and was always prepared to tell a great joke to make that happen. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Danziger (1917 to 1997).

She will be sorely missed by many friends and especially by her family including her children, their spouses Glenn Perelson and Martha Drexler Lynn Danziger; grandchildren Jessica Perelson Thomas (Brian Thomas), Josh Perelson, and Alex Perelson; and her great-grandchildren Dylan Thomas and Gabriella Thomas, all of whom filled her with joy. Shirley was raised in Chicago, Illinois, where she was always the smartest girl in her class. She was part of a loving family where a sense of humor was cherished; parents, Alexander Rotstein and Mable Fisher Rotstein and brother Buddy Rotstein preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Gerald Rotstein. To her last day, she had more marbles than most of us ever had.

She began Northwestern University at the age of 16 in 1937, graduating at 20 in 1941with a degree in music education; the culmination of practicing piano 4 hours every day in her youth. That degree enabled her to begin a rewarding career in social work. She worked at the psychopathic hospital in Chicago, and in the parole office in Los Angeles when she moved there with her folks in 1947. Upon moving to LA she learned to drive a car by buying one, then hiring someone to teach her to drive it. She married Joe Danziger in 1949 in Los Angeles and raised her family there.

She delighted in being a mother and shared her gift for music with her children. Her home was filled with her piano playing and her singing. Shirley was instrumental in building her accounting practice by helping in the office and entertaining clients and their families in their home. She gave a mean dinner party. She was confidant, social worker, friend, and gave solace to all that brought her into their confidence.

She was remarkably clear and decisive. She was president of the Pacific chapter of Hadassah in the In the she supported son Bob Danziger in the development of Sunlaw Energy Corporation. She spent the last 8 years of her life in San Rafael, California to be closer to her children. She delighted the residents of Drake Terrace where she lived with her humor, music, great attitude, and willingness to have fun. She was one of a kind.

She lived her life to the fullest and is an example in many things to all that follow her. She asked to be remembered as a fun person. And indeed she was. Funeral services are to be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 11a.m., at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001Centi- nela Avenue, Los Angeles, California.
