The six-member group made up of Jackie and Mary Ruth Robinson and their children Mark and Rebekah Cluxton, and twin sisters Julia Anna and Susannah Holder also plays an assortment of instruments including the banjo, guitar, saxophone and fiddle.

Show times are 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. today and Wednesday in the entertainment center across from the carousel. Each show will be different, except for a few favorite songs. The family would pass the nights away singing on the front porch. People enjoyed their music and would invite them to perform at various events. Their big break came when they won a talent contest at the New York State Fair, which led to their first album recorded in Nashville, Tenn. The family has spent much of the past 20 years on the road touring the country from conventions in Las Vegas to rodeos in Florida. Some of the children have met their spouses through their travels.

Most recently, Julia Anna met her fiance, Dave Jaddock, at a fair in Canada. The couple plan to be married in May back in Owenton, The Robinsons like to keep their business all in the family. Their production staff is made up of their children's spouses. "We are all part of the team which makes our show," Julia Anna said. Today's events include the horticulture show in the Ashford Building, which the Lake County Council of Garden Clubs stages.

The youth steer show is at 7 p.m. in the livestock arena. The 76th annual fair runs through Saturday. So far, turnout has been better than fair. Gate receipts for the past weekend were up by 45 percent from last year, fair officials said.
