Fish outside the grass or reeds in areas with access to deep water during the first few hours after dawn, then look for areas that offer shade from the sun, such as boat docks. Good lakes include Lake Tohopeka-llga, where an increasing number of 9-pounders are being caught, as well as East Lake Tohopekaliga. The SL Johns River offers the best chance for schooling bass, since it's about the only place you'll find a good current flow. The schoolers should be feeding during early morning around Sanford and- also up around Lake Dexter.

Panfish action may be slow, but you should find bream or shellcrackers in East Lake Toho or the SL Johns River. East Lake's panfish are in water 10 feet deep around the mussel beds. You should be able to find the beds by looking for clusters of boats, but if nobody's there, try dragging a weighted treble hook along the bottom until you snag the shells. Salt Water King mackerel are still following bait pods along most sections of the east coast, from Fort Pierce to Daytona Beach. The smaller kings should be offshore and the large "smoker" kings will be closer to port.

At Fort Pierce, they've been feeding along the 85-Foot Reef and at Port Canaveral, the fish have been feeding along the buoy line. Surf fishing is also slow, but whiting are feeding in most areas. Mangrove snapper should be fairly plentiful at Sebastian Inlet, where they've been feeding on shrimp and small bait fish along both jetties. Snook fishing is good at the inlet. Some large channel bass (red drum) have begun showing up around the inlet.

Terry Parsons caught a 51Vi-pound red that may be the new state record. Parsons caught the big fish Monday in the surf south of the inlet on a plug. You should find fair numbers of spotted sea trout in the Indian River along with an increasing number of channel bass. Fish early using live shrimp or fingerling mullet on the grass flats near deep-water access. On the west coast, the trout are feeding around Homosassa and Crystal River.

At Homosassa, the trout are on the flats on both sides of the ship channel and also out in water 12 to 16 feet deep west of the channel. .1, San Fran New England Miami i Cleveland Tampa Bay Pittsburgh NY-Giants Cincinnati New Orleans Chicago Green Bay' San Diego ansae City Dallas CFL EASTERN DIVISION PF PA Pts.
