FIX.AC -'CONCERT MIKE MARTH, Editor Magic Mountain Continues Master Expansion Program agic Mountain, the 200-acre amusement park, today announced 1972 public season attendance surpassed the previous year with substantial increases during the last four months of the year. 1 E. Van Gorder, Magic Mountain president, said the "thrill-ride 7 oriented amusement park's second year of operation was further highlighted by gains in gross revenue and consumer spending.

"Not only was our attendance up over our opening year, but gross revenues and per capita guest spending at the park increased more than 10 per cent," he said. "Based on our available data, last year's operation places us as perhaps the third most popular amusement attraction in Southern California "This year," Van Gorder pointed out, "will be even more successful due in a a expanded schedule which will add an additional 51 operating days by remaining open on weekends and special holidays throughout the year." Van Gorder added the park has never before been open during the January through April. It will resume a seven-day per week operation in May. The park's president also said further increases in attendance are expected due to an expenditure of an additional 3 000,000 in improve- ments to the $30,000,000 facility. Among the new attractions scheduled for 1973 are three major new rides, the "Jolly Monster," the "Mountain Express," a German-type roller coaster, and the "Swiss Twist" ride.

Magic Mountain orig- nally opened in May of 1971; however, the park closed from January until May of 1972 for a $6,000,000 improvement and expansion program which included the addition of a children's petting farm, now one of the park's most popular attractions, two new restaurants, and the Jet Stream, a $2,000,0 0 0 igh-speed water ride.
