September 23. 1987 Comedian Dan Rowan, star of 6Laugh-In' -rv -Vf At 19, he went to Hollywood to become a junior writer at Paramount, but shortly thereafter he joined the Army Air Corps to serve in World War II and was shot down over New Guinea. Mr. Rowan never took to the Hollywood scene, and after Laugh-In left the air, he began spending winters at his Florida home and summers traveling on inland waterways throughout Europe.

He also had been writing, and his first published work, A Friendship consisting of his letters with his longtime friend, the late detective novelist John D. MacDonald came out in February. mediately ordered a series. From January 1968 to May 1973 Rowan Martin's Laugh-In ran at 8 p.m. Mondays, earning three Emmys and becoming the No.

1 series in the country for the 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons. Mr. Smith was born in Texas and raised in Massachusetts, but he lived in Florida for 62 years. As a boy, he ran away to Florida and within a few years lied about his age to join the Marines, his wife, Peggy, said. At the time of his death, he and his wife operated a nursery, Jim Smith's Orchids, in Pompano Beach. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Blake Smith of Pen-sacola; three daughters, Mona Lewis of Pompano Beach, Margie Williams of Oakland Park, Jackie Mitchell of Okeechobee, and Anne Fitch of Sebring; nine grandchildren find 11 great-grandchildren.

Gunn, a Broward County resident for 42 years, died on Tuesday at Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes. She was 76. Mrs. Gunn worked as a secretary for Portside Realty company, retiring in 1980, for the First Christian Church of Fort Lauderdale and for the Nova University Learning Program. She also taught Sunday school at the church and was a member of the Worship Center in Plantation.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Gunn was a resident of Plantation, but she had lived for many years in Fort Lauderdale. From 1945 to 1963 she owned and operated a service station on South Federal Highway with her first husband, Ollie Sullivan. She is survived by her husband, Alan M. Gunn; two sons, O.

Graham Sullivan and Robert A. Sullivan; three grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; a stepson, John Gunn; and a stepdaughter, Nancy Brown. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Jennings Funeral rjome, 2211 Davie where services will be at 9:30 a.m.
