"Bill donated the books to the Williamsburg Regional Library after he did the reviews," said editorial page editor Will Molineux. Molineux, a former Williamsburg bureau manager, said he couldn't remember Mr. McLaughlin ever misspelling a word in the articles he wrote, nor did he have to look words up in a dictionary. "More Molineux said, "in all the years I knew him, no one ever complained that they were misquoted. That's incredible." Mr.

21. Mrs. Griffin retired in 1975 after 15 years with Arkell Bag Factory (formerly Chase Bag Company) of Newport News. Survived by a daughter, Audrey Grow of Newport News; a son, David L. Griffin of Walnut Cove, N.C; two sisters, Bessie Jameson and Geneva Frogg of Winston-Salem, N.C; a brother, John Aldridge of Winston-Salem, N.C; and nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mr. Mitchem was the owner of W. Russell Mitchem Seafood Company and a seafood dealer for more than 30 years. He was a member of Mathews American Legion Post 83 and I.O.O.F. Chapel Lodge 235.

20. Mr. McLaughlin was a native of New York City who came to fee Peninsula and the Daily Press 32 years ago. A graduate of Ford-; ham University, New York, he worked in the paper's Williamsburg bureau. As a reporter, Mr.

McLaughlin initially covered schools and the police beat. His favorite assign-' ments took him into the class-'I rooms because he felt that chil-; dren were the future and found journalism at its most rewarding when working with children. Mr. Briscoe retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He attended Oakwood Chapel and was a 1978 graduate of Hampton High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Richard Brock wicomico Ret. Master Sgt Richard Brock, 61, a native of Terre Haute, and a resident of Gloucester died Saturday, Nov. 21. Mr. Brock owned and managed Brock's General Store and was a security officer with the Daily Press, Newport News.

He retired after 25 years with the U.S. Ajr Force.
