This, of course, tells ol tne career of Adolf Eichmann, the man in charge of the txecutlon of millions of Jews for Hitler's Nazi Germany. Laughton plays a fascinating character on tonight's Train. He's a retired English officer, a doctor, with the proper airs and a great disdain for Irishmen and Colonials, in that order. He and his orderly (played by James Fairfax who, incidentally, comes from Laughtoh's home town, Scarborough, in Yorkshire) get mixed up with Irishmen, Colonials, Indians and smallpox on this leg of their trip.

There are some funny scenes and some dramatic ones, You may enjoy the sight of Laughton on horseback--his first such professional duty since he played Henry VII the '30s, WHEN --Frank Clause, an ex-English teacher who quit the blackboard lor bowling in 1947, gives the show's emcee, Milton Berle, a big bear hug after he hit the jackpot of six straight strikes for the $40,000 prize money Monday night in the Jackpot TV bowling show from Hollywood. "I told him not to do too much out here," said Case, "to take it easy for tomorrow." While Mantle's condition had to be a worry, Stengel mentally was juggling Whitey Ford and Bob Turley in an attempt to decide his starting pitcher for Wednesday's sixth game.

The Yankees, down 3-2 in games and now 4-1 underdogs to win the best-of-7 series, are 6-5 picks, however, to beat Pirate right-hander Bob Friend again Wednesday. Their position--one game short rf being beaten--clearly was. evident to the Yankees. There was grimness, bordering on their attitude toward fans who strolled up for autographs on the field. It was reminiscent of 1958; when the Yankees, beaten three times the first four games, dug in and swept the last three from the Milwaukee Braves.

"My pitcher I'll name tomorrow," said Stengel, "and it's either Ford with three days rest or Turley with five days rest." Turley won the second here. But he gave iqr 13'hits-arid, needed relief in the ninth inning of a 16-3 victory. The belief Js that Stengel's will Ford, money man and the southpaw who shut out the Pirates on four, hits in the 10-0 third game at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. "I am thinking about changes in the outfied and the infield," said Stengel. "It's not the outfield 80 much, but who you're gonna catch.

Plays were run against simulated bulldog defenses. There also was much stress placed' on defense.

James apparently looks for Yala to pass Tom Singleton, 6-foot, 190-pound senior quarterback, has been most successful at a Yale passer. Singleton was one of the keys to Yale's great improvement last year. He led. the team in passing and punting and also ranked high in rushing and scoring. He was an; Ivy League passing leader with a .544 completion mark and led the league in total offense.

Last year The Associated Press picked Singleton as its All-Ivy League quarterback. 'Yale's alternate quarterback, Bill Leckonby, has been showing ability as a passer. He is a lefthander. 'Cornell may counter with moire' throwing though, for the most part, it hat been a rushing team in the first three games, having netted 603 yards rushing ag compared with only 150 yards passing. The opening show had its unfortunate moments, most noticeably a disturbing laugh track, but it had its very humorous ones, too. The aunts' encounter with a pair of harried personnel managers was especially amusing.

Buddy is no wildly funny program but then, it wasn't intended to be, as Aletter explained not long ago. The situations for the most part will be mild little vignettes designed to win A. giggle OP two. If it continues to'live up to this promise, viewers should find the series happy fare. Mari Blanchard is the nice girl and James Coburn is the ever-present crooked gambler.
