Poulson Viilc4 Pran InlnutloMl LOS ANGELES Former mayor Norm Poulson, who was responsible for bringing the Dodgers baseball team to the city in 1958, died early Saturday at a convalescent hospital in Orange, at the age of 87. Poulson, who was mayor for eight years, underwent colostomy surgery earlier in the week along with treatment for an ulcer, bis grandson, Alf Brandt, said. Poulson's "greatest pride" was being known as the mayor who acquired the Dodgers from Brooklyn, Brandt said, but be blamed his defeat at the polls by Sam Yorty in 1961 on the Dodger baseball battle.

"My opponent, Samuel Yorty, picked up a good-sized following in my baseball enemies," Poulson wrote in 1962. He had lost the election by 15,700 votes to Yorty. Poulson was born in Baker, July 23, 1885. He arrived in Los Angeles in 1923 and was first elected to the State Assembly in 1938 where he served two terms. After being elected to the U.S.

Congress in 1942, Poulson was con-; sidered one of the leaders in Cali-fornia's fight with Arizona over Colorado River water. Prtti Intcrutkmal LOS ANGELES Country and western singer and actor Jimmy Wakely will be buried Monday at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Wakely, who died Thursday, was the nation's most popular western singer in 1949 and was chosen the same year the third most popular male volcalist in the country, behind Perry Como and Frankie Laine but ahead of Bing Crosby. Wakely died at age 68 in Holy Cross Hospital where he was admitted in August after a long bout with asthma. He was a song writer and appeared on radio, the stage, the movies and television.

He took his first music lesson when he was 7, on a guitar borrowed from a Choctaw Indian. He worked with Gene Autry and other western stars during the 1940s and early 1950s in nearly 30 films, including, The Tulsa Kid, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Moon Over Montana, Cowboy Cavalier, and Across the Rio Grande. By 1962, he had sold more than 15 million records. She was 83. Formerly of Washington, D.C., Mrs. German was a long-time member of the Broward General Medical Center Auxiliary. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy German von Ammon of Fort Lauderdale, Patricia German West of Louisville, her son, Charles D. German Jr.

of Washington, D.C., and eight grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Fairchild Funeral Home, 1801 East Oakland Park Boulevard, with the Rev. William Taliaferro of the Science of Mind Church officiating. She will be buried in Lauderdale Memorial Park.
