Ex-Governor Warmoth, of Louisiana, accompanied by hia family, was a paa-eenger on the cannon-ball Friday evening, enroute for Chicago, and during the 29-minute etop at this point climbed down the rear end of the palace car sleeper to stretch hia legs and renew his acquaintance with Jackson. Gov. "Warmoth ia a man one would look at twice in most any crowd. He is perhaps 50 years of age, has gray hair and moustache, ia of fine phyEique, graceful bearing and is eo pleasant and affable that it is no wonder he is one of the most popular citizen 3 of Louisiana notwithstanding hia Republican politics. He informed the Clarion-Ledger reporter he was off on a two months vacation; would spend two or three weeks at the World's Fair, two weeks at Niagara, two in New York and other places of interest before returning to his home, is about 50 miles south of New Orleans.

"No," said he in answer to the query, "I am not going to attend the eilver convention at Chicago; that Bort of money does not particularly interest me I'm more in line with Mr. Cleveland. While standing on the depot platform, a very handsome young lady passed. The viovernor looked at her with the eye of a connoissure and remarked flatteringly on her beauty and wealth of golden hair, and declared he had noticed three or four who were mighty hard to beat since he stepped off the train. He was advised of Jackson's enviable reputation for handsome women and said he could readily believe it was merited.

"This is not my first passage through your little city," said Gov. Warmoth, by any means; and on one occasion about 20 years ago I had the honor to be the guest of the Mississippi Legislature lor a day; and must say I have a very tender recollections of that visit because of the cordial greeting extended me. "On one occasion you will remember I took a ride down this railroad with I'inchback that has gone down into history as one of the most memorable and exciting on record." The governor expressed considerable interest and familiarity with Mississippi affairs, asking about the outcome of the Cameron-lIoudebu8h affair at Canton, and when told that Cameron had been admitted to bail, declared that "would end it." He expressed great admiration for Gov. Stone on account of hia decisive way of dealing with the whitecaps in South Mississippi, where he understood they were numerically strong. "But," said he, "you fellows should not be too hard on the whitecaps because you learned them how to put the nigger to flight a good many years ago, and now that under jour new constitution they are no longer" a political can easily be spared." Expressing his regret that Gov.

Stone's recomendation to the Legislature to appropriate a decent sum tor an exhibit at the World's Fair was not adopted, the Governor caught the train as it moved off, and joined hia family in the rear coach.
