Maria Teresa Allison, Mrs Abrego and Pedro Would Have Additional Holidays AUSTIN (UP1) Rep. Boll Clayton, D-Springlake, today asked a House Banking Committee to approve legislation giving banks in Texas three additional mandatory holidays, and allowing them to close for up to 48 hours in tinffis ot emergency. Both Clayton's bills were sent subcomnu'Uee for further study. Both hare the support oi the Texas Bankers Association. The emergency closing bill would give banks authority to close temporarily in timts ot emergency, such as lornsdoes, hurricanes, power failure or rob bery threats.

Under the moratorium provision, Ihe banks could close up lo 4S hours with the consent of the Slate Banking Commission and the governor. Clayton's holiday bill would add Washington's birthday, Columbus Day, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day to the list of com pulsory bank holidays ani would delete San Jacinto day as a required holiday. The measure wouH also require any bank which stays open six days a week to file a resolution of its diredctors with the State Banking Commission. luadalupe Guevara; Alberto a Gregorio rlipoloto Cabrera: Melborne Foster; Mrs. Roberto C.
