Matty Stanford Erickson, 97, of Orlando, FL passed away Oct. 4, 1999 in Jefferson, NC. She was a native of Kissimmee, FL, born Oct. 8, 1901, to the late Henry Clay and Mattie Florence Fix Stanford. She graduated from Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, FL in 1924 and continued her education at various institutions, including Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.

She taught elementary school in Kissimmee and Davenport and was qualified to work with the deaf and handicapped. As such, she was among the original faculty developing the Forrest Park School for physically handicapped children and later involved in planning a new campus where she served as principal. She was married to William Davis in 1939 until his death in 1964. She later married Claude Earl Erickson and lived in Dubsdread until his death in 1987. A summer resident of Boone, NC since 1935, she recently made her home with a dear friend, Ann Dickinson, in Orlando and Boone.

She is survived by a nephew Stanley Shave and a niece, Victoria Shave. Memorial services will be conducted at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 2501 N. Westmoreland Dec. 4, at 2PM with the Rev.

Kathleen was born in Narrowsburg, NY, the daughter of William J. and Carrie Marie O'Connor. She married Kenneth B. Dates in 1939 and resided in New Jersey where she was active in school affairs and served as a journalist for local newspapers. She was a talented artist and produced many oil paintings.

At age 70, she obtained a college degree from Upsala College. Kenneth Dates died in 1981 and in 1989 she married a long time acquaintance, John Langhaar, a windowerer residing in the Orlando area. Memorial services were held in Burlington, VT on Nov. 19, 1999. Mrs.

Langhaar is survived by her husband, John Langhaar; two sons, George Dates of Newton, NJ and Stephen Dates of Shelburne, VT; brother Richard O'Connor, Washington, DC; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
