This is four more than were enrolled on the first day of school.

Of these students 778 were enrolled in grades kindergarten through eight and 255 in the high school grades (9-12). This is by far the largest enrollment in the history of the local school system. In 1950-1951 the total enrollment for the entire school for kindergarten through 12 was 435 students. For the 1940-1941 school year the entire enrollment for both grades and high school was only 324 students. There were only 321 students for the total elementary and high school enrollment in 1932-1933.

The total enrollment in the junior-senior high school this year is 403. Indications are that the enrollment next fall for these grades will reach 430 and for the fall of 1963 the enrollment in grades 7-12 should be approximately 450 stu- I dents. There were only 463 stu- dents in the school when the first Postville Consolidated School District was formed. The old high school building was considered as over-crowded at that time with this total enrollment of grade and high school students.
