The event is expected to result in $3 billion in future business for U.S. travel companies. Disney officials decided to make their announcement at Pow Wow because of All-Star's tremendous popularity among international travelers who, because they often stay for two weeks or longer, looR for the lowest-price hotels they can find.

The company decided to build another All-Star rather than a pricier property because of demand from those travelers and from international tour operators, who have asked for more economy-priced rooms so they can advertise low-cost travel packages, said Randy Garfield, president of the Walt Disney Travel Co. Room rates at Disney's existing All-Star Resorts range from $69 to $89 per night. "This is a product that really gives them tour operators an opportunity to develop a seamless Disney vacation" at a lower cost, Garfield said. The opening of the hotel will follow the May 1998 opening of Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. With the expansion, Walt Disney World will have 26 hotels with 26,213 rooms.

The property, to open in early 1999, will be based on movies, company insiders said. By Jill Jorden Spitz OF THE SENTINEL STAFF NASHVILLE, Tenn. Walt Disney World will announce plans today to build a third phase of its lowest price hotel, All-Star Resorts. The property, to open in early 1999, will bring the number of rooms at All-Star Resorts which includes two other hotels with music and sports themes to 5,760. Disney officials would not reveal the theme of the new property but insiders have said it will be based on movies.

Disney will make its announcement here at the Discover America International Pow Wow, a travel trade show at which 1,600 tour operators from 70 countries book trips and tours with U.S. hotels, at Bid Bid Rat Mai. data Bid Asked YW. chg. Bid Rata Mat data Bid Asked Ykt dig.

The hotels' guests still will get free transportation and early entrance to alliance parks but no longer will have the exclusivity many expected when they signed oa But park officials said they think Destination Universal hotels will be happy about the greater flexibility the pass will give guests.

Officials from the parks said Monday they made the changes in response to research showing consumers did not want to be locked PASS from B-1 Through 1997, the seven-day pass will cost $94.95 for adults, and the 10-day pass will cost $125.95. Next year, prices will go up about $5. The passes are available at the theme parks, tour operators and about 20 hotels whose guest service desks are run by Universal Studios' travel company. Soon, though, they will be available through up to 10 local guest-service companies, which means they will be sold at hotels and shopping malls all over town. "We're still in Orlando, and we're loving it" Jones said.
