Aycrigg, 70, joined the station, then WDBO-TV, in 1961, after working more than a dozen years in Orlando radio. He became the most-identified TV anchor in the market, a favorite who was dubbed "Orlando's Walter Cronkite." He also served as Channel 6's news director for several years in the mid-1970s. The station's- ratings started slipping after it replaced him in that capacity. In recent years, Aycrigg has co-anchored Channel 6's noon newscast.
