'AWUAL Me Leaders Feted By Consular Corps EDDIE KNOWLES He declined Pastors Scan For Biaggne Foe Again to The Newi LA MARQUE, Jan. 10 La Marque's Ministerial Alliance, out to get Sheriff Frank Biaggne's scalp at the polls this year, huddled again Thursday in a lengthy conference. But the alliance's publicity chairman and ex-president, the Rev. Harry F. Burch, wasn't commenting on the prospects they have in mind.

The pastor, however, admitted Thursday's meeting dealt solely on discussions to find a candidate to oppose Biaggne. "We're agreed," he said, "that must work quietly on this project for the time being. We will, however, release the information when our plans are completed." The alliance last week asked Police Chief Eddie Knowles of Texas City to enter the sheriff's race. But after considering, Knowles declined the offer, saying he felt hi first duty was to the people Texas City. Meanwhile, Sheriff Biaggne has not said whether he will be a can didate again this year, but al liance is taking it for granted will.

The sheriff has been in offic some 20 years. Ordinarily members of the consular corps are honored as distinguished visitors at important community affairs. Thursday the members of Galveston's consular corps turned the tables on their Galveston friends and were at an annual New Year hospitality at the Jean Lafitte hotel. Crowding the reception at the hotel, Galvtuton's official and civic leaders, representatives of shipping interests and other commercial activities attended a cocktail party artd open house given by the consular corps, consisting of both honorary and career officials. Eduardo Patterson, consul general of Cuba and dean of the Galveston consular corps, was official lost.

R. M. Bazzanella, secretary of consular corps and honorary consul of Panama, Was in charge of arrangements. In addition to Patterson and Bazzanella, other consular representatives include Antonio Elias, consul for Spain; W. R.

Reid, consul for Great Britain; John Helm- hoe, vice consul for Denmark and Norway; J. A. Torregrossa, consul for the Republic of Columbia; Dr. King Speaks At La Marque Bernard Bernardoni. consular agent for Italy; Marcel Baudoux, consul for Belgium; Harden F.

Wittig, acting vice consul for Sweden. Among the approximately 150 guestu in attendance, including several women guests, were Sam D. W. Low, collector of customs at the Port of Galveston, George L. C.

Pratt, assistant collector of customs; County Judge T. R. Robinson, Commissioner Jimmy Vacek, Ccunty, Commissioner D. J. (Termini, County Commissioner Irwin Dantin, Justice of the Peace Orra M.
