Martinsville Social Wrights Celebrate I Installation Held Club Meeting Set Golden Anniversary AXTON, Feb. 23-- Mr. and Mrs. Leander Wright of Axton, Rt. Two, were honored with a reception recently from 2 to 4 p.m.

in the social hall of County Line Christian Church in observance of their 50th wed- ding anniversary. Married Feb. 2, 1929, in Martinsville by the late Dr. J. P.

McCabe, they have lived in the Axton area for 50 years Mr. Wright is engaged in farming. The golden wedding motif was Carried out in the decorations and the three-tiered wedding cake was trimmed with yellow rose buds. Centering the table was an arrangement of yellow santhemums, babysbreath and snapdragons, flanked by yellow candles in branched candelabra. Assisting in serving were Mrs.

F. C. Divers of Hidgeway, Mrs. Joe Coe of Winston-Salem, N. and Mrs.

Everett Currier of Axton. Mrs. T. S. Law of Axton and Mrs.

Joe Garrett of Callands were in charge of the gift table which was centered with flowers from Hawaii sent by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Willis and children of Hawaii. The honorees received many gifts and a large number of friends and relatives attended. By Rebekah Lodge Officers of the Martinsville Rebekah Lodge 10 were in- stalled by the District Deputy Grand Chief.

S. S. Flythe Jr. as hostesses. The committee reports were heard by the president, Mrs.

R. S. Pannill, including plans for Garden Week. Dr. Donald Richman was guest speaker.

His talk was based on planning planting, and growing of Roses. He offered many helpful suggestions and named the best roses to plant in this area. the historical program on "Medical and Surgical History of the War Between the States. CJiapter Meet Held At Childress Home The Mary Cabell i Chapter, Children of the Confederacy, was entertained by Louann, Eddie andi Vince Childress in their home on Corn Tassel Trial. Miss Martha Aaron, presi- dent, led the discussion on plans for a tea for the Mildred Lee Chapter of the U.D.C. and for mothers of the children. Rules for the school essay contest sponsored by Mildred Lee Chapter were discussed and members were urged to compete for local and state prizes. Several of the group are at- tending the district meeting in Chatham, it was announced.

Bouldin, American Red Cross executive secretary of the Martrasville-Henry Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mrs. Bouldin told of the origin of the Red Cross and its services. She showed a films of servicemen in Vietnam receiving ditty bags, similar to those sent by the local chapter to Marlinsville soldiers. A dessert course was served.
